I think it was here that mama's were talking about warm longjohns/undershirts to wear.

What have you found that works well?

My dh is a Drill Sergeant and some crazy Army "rule" will not let Drill Sergeants wear a field jackets when they are outside doing training events with the new soliders. They will let the soldiers wear field jackets but not the Drill Sergeants- it shows they are human and have weakness and can get cold. Dumb huh?

So he wants something thin, and warm that he can wear under his long sleeve Army uniform to keep him warm. Is there somekind of thin soft wool long johns?

Where is a good place to buy something like that?

Thanks, and my dh thanks you that he will be warm.

Your military clothing store should have military long johns. They aren't wool but they are very thin. Hanna carries cotton long johns.

LLBean carries silk longjohns and other types. They also have longjohns for extreme sports. Go to their website- not all catalogs show the extreme sport items. www.LLbean.com Also, www.patagonia.com & www.ems.com has some extreme sports underclothing as well. Wool and silk adult longjohns are sold at www.novanatural.com They are pricey, but so are the extreme sports underthings. Cotton is not going to do it here. I'd bite it on the money. Poor guy.

He does have some of the military long johns that he wears under his clothes, but still needs another layer. We get this bitter cold wind in Oklahoma and when they are out in the cold all day they just don't cut it. He just wishes they would let them wear field jackets like the Privates- but oh well.

Yes, LLBean is the one I remember everyone talking about! We will go and check there. Thank you!

A couple of months ago campmor.com had merino wool adult long johns. They were $20 apiece (top $20, botton $20). We bought two sets each b/c they are fantastic. They are made by Duofold. They are really really nice, incredibly soft and warm, and I think you can machine wash them.

Also check out sierratradingpost.com. Both sites have cheap poly long johns too. Stay away from the Terramar silks, they are very very thin.

Sierra Trading Post (http://www.sierratradingpost.com/xq/asp/dept_id.L2~4680/special_type.bargain_barn/qx/prod_list_display_special.htm) and here is the full Sale page (http://www.sierratradingpost.com/xq/asp/special_type.bargain%5Fbarn/qx/dept_special.htm)

This is where I would go. They have sales and sometimes you can get really nice stuff at CRAZY cheap prices. I have been looking at it all winter here becuase for the first time it has not hit 50* in two weeks.
