I tried a medium on E llery and it was pretty big...but she is over the weight range for a small...what to do!?

Maybe try a prorap? They seem to be pretty good about their size range. That's what I've always used and the fit is very good. Seth weighs almost 27 pounds and is at the end range of the mediums (large is still a bit too large for now). I think he's been in mediums for around 8 months or so. HTH!

Oh, and I just had to comment on how adorable Ellery is! What a doll!
