My niece was due the end of August, but was born the end of July at 5lbs, 10oz. They struggled with nursing... I posted for help because my niece R wasn't strong enough to suck and so she was losing weight. Well, my sis got her up to breastfeeding completely, no bottle, only to have her dh come home from leave and tell her it was "gross" when she let down during sex, and that she was "always" nursing. She quit nursing, said she "didn't have time" to sit around and feed her all day. It made me sad, but I sucked it up and dealt with it. It's a choice, and it is hers to make. I was more upset for her reasoning than her choice not to. I told her that her dh needed to grow up and get over himself, which didn't go over so well.

So, I talked to my mom tonight and my sis has started R on solid food. I'm upset because I think it is way too young first of all. Secondly, R has had constipation issues since starting formula and my sis started her on bananas and iron-fortified rice cereal. :eyes:

I guess I'm looking for links to good info, and support. It's going to be hard talking to her. I don't want her to think that I'm a know-it-all, because I don't.

Am I just overreacting? I'm just horrified... but maybe I've been on Amity's too long :)

Honestly, if she hasn't asked for your advice or help, I'd just stay out of it to preserve your relationship with your sister. Yes, she's WRONG, but unless she's specifically asked you, I don't think the information would be well received.
