My dd turns 7 in December THREE DAYS after Christmas and I am at a loss as to what to get her this year. Do you have any suggestions for me? Can be both mainstream and natural items? Thanks - Josie

my 7 year old dd loves:

art supplies ( this chrismas we are going to make her her own art corner in her room with baskets a desk etc)

anything dress up

she has a tea set and loves to pretend tea

We gave my cousins a make your own book kit last yeat..that went over great. ( they are 7)

books

anything with princesses

well K is 6.5...she is really into hair...so maybe a basket with a hairbrush and different clips and maybe one of those bead-it thingys for the hair.

Books on tape, her dollhouse, art supplies, puzzles are all hits around here with K.

eta: ditto on the tea set...that's a huge hit..how could I forget!

7 was a biiiiiiiiiiiig transition year for my eldest.

She wanted a lot of My Little Pony and Barbie stuff, and played with it for for most of the year.

Playmobile was great, and continues to be played with.

Art supplies, as someone else said. If you are not worried about younger kiddos messing up her stuff, 7 is a great age for some more serious things like canvasses and acrylic paints, charcoal and chalk pastels. Lots of good paper too. Oh, and self hardening ceramic clay.

Now she just turned 8 and all she asked for was klutz books, cross stitch samplers, money for swim and ceramics lessons, piano books, and more art suppllies.

So if you don't want to spend money on things that will not have years of use, maybe skip straight to playmobile when it comes to "toys", yk?

My 7 (just turned 8 this week) dd is/has been majorly "into" American Girl Dolls, art projects/crafts, reading/writing, and Polly Pockets.

Horses and Wee Folk(Waldorf). Mostly, loves to ride her bike all day.
