12 kids total

Shipping plan is a flat rate priority box.
After watching me work on the last three swaps, Sage REALLY wants to have a swap! So how about a kid's craft kit swap? Each person would send in a kit in a ziplock baggie with a sheet of instructions. We were thinking age range of 5-9yrs. Kit cost would be around $1-3 dollars. Ship date: Sept. 30th. I think to keep it managable, maybe we should cap at 10 kids, not sure on this one though?

Styled like the sewing swaps, sign up for the number of different kits you would like and send in one kit per child signed up ie. I am signing up two kids.... I will make sock puppet kits and finger crochet kits- so I will prepare one kit for each child signed up. Clear as mud, eh?

The ideas Sage and I had were:
Strung Bead necklaces
sculpey figure kit
wool ball kit
walnut shell boats
sock puppets
felt chicky
walnut shell critters
pinecone critters
pinwheels
ribbon streamer ring
suncatchers
origami
finger crochet

Oh I am so in on this one...lol

I have 2 kids, and they would love these

I am in for animal origami kits, and what do you think of wool bead necklaces?

I would make adn send the beads, and yarn to string them on, adn instructions

does that sound good?

jo

Mine would looooove the wool bead necklaces!

Of course, Sage and Torin are easy... they will craft with a leftover gum wrapper ;)

Ooh, can I make bendy kits? I have tons of supplies I will never use! Actually, in general I have tons of supplies so I will see what I can thin out and maybe I will send out doubles to make my DH happy since we are trying to pack to move.
This swap will be a life saver for me on boring days :monkeydan

ETA: one child

Ooh I'm in! I'll have to decide what to send, and then edit my post. Dylan will be thrilled to have an assortment of different crafts to do.

Okay, I wasn't going to join any more swaps, but this one sounds like fun!
Would paper crafts be appropriate? Greeting card kits?

Ok, I've decided I will make time for this because these will make great stocking stuffers for McKenna :) I'm editing my op with what I will send.

Ok, I'm lost on the details of this swap though, lol! I am sending for one child. But I'm not sending a kit for every child in the swap? I am only sending the number of kits that I would like to receive back? Is that right? So if I want to receive 2 kits back for McKenna, I would send in 2 (not 2 sets of 10 kits each)?

Shannon

I'm in.
One Child

Not sure what I'll send. Right now I'm thinking finger puppets, but I may change my mind.

Ok, I know what I can send. Tell me how many to make so I can get started.
I will do playdough mixes that the kids can make at home, then have it to play with for a while.

I may be wrong, but i think we send one for each child..dont' we????

I would love some clarification also so I can get them ready and in the mail this weekend :monkeydan

I was thinking we would send one for each child (which is why I think we need to limit the total number of kids participating :) )

Here is the list I have, and if everyone is in we should close it now.
Sagemama- 2 kids
Mom2kbeth-1kid
Huntersmama-2 kids
Lupineperriwink-1 kid
Korwynne-2 kids (pending)
Elfmama-1 kid
Copmom- 1 kid
Craftymom- 1 kid
Shannon-1 kid

So, for instance I will make one kit for each child participating, right now 10-12, of each of the two projects I committed to. I was sooo confused during the tiny things swap, but it seemed to work well.

pm me for my addy when you need it, and shipping should be in a flat rate priority, so paypal for that to info@thesagemama.com ... what is the new flat rate charge, anyone know off the top of their head?

jo

lupineperriwink
09-19-2005, 09:18 AM
Flat rate still says $.385 on usps.com
Is this closed now at 12 kids? I can put these together and mail them this week. Also, since I am doing bendies and really think Danielle did a perfect job, can I just refer people to the FAQ section where Danielle posted the awesome pictures? Would anyone mind so i don't have to write out a whole book?
I will include (enough for 2 bendies I think): floss, pipe cleaners, wool blend felt, beads for heads, acorn caps and roving for hair if I can dig it out. Also a needle for sewing.

Hey what would you think if i swtiched my beaded necklaces to a winter or fall themed mobil?

Time is a bit tight this week and i'd really like to get this out this weekend

i have not decided compeltely yet...BUt i think the moblie might be faster

or I could do 2 different Origami sets...Oneis animals
Giraffe, ELephant, Zebra, Cow, and Alligator.

Maybe i could do one on boxes or cranes?

what do you all think?

Swaps are supposed to be fun and easy so do what's easy for you!

jo

I agree- do what will be fun for you, not anything that will stress you :)

~jo

Korwynne
09-21-2005, 09:48 PM
if you decide to not do necklaces, we might :)

we would LOVE mobiles for the nature table.. I don't know how hard they are for you to put together and all - but I've got 2 kids signed up.. it'd be cool to get one fall and one winter

huntersmama
09-21-2005, 11:04 PM
Go for it...do the necklaces. I'm either going to do both origami or at least of them and the other a mobile

I cant; wait to see what everyone does.

jo
09-29-2005, 01:29 PM
Reminder that the ship date is tomorrow for shipping your kits to me so that I can get them packaged up and sent to everyone. I'm hoping this will all fit in a flat rate box :) the smaller one, if not we'll go with the bigger one.

It is ok with me if people want to wait and send paypal for the shipping once I have the kits and know what size box it will take. Does that work for people?

jo

I was all set to ship when Craftymom contacted me to say that she had been away from the board because her newborn had a horrible vaccine related incident! She told me she shipped on Monday, so I should have these last ones this week. I felt bad and didn't want her to drop since we had all waited quite a while anyways. Hope that's ok. These will get out soon!

Ok, crazily delayed they are, but these are ready to go out.... however I have lots of extras because the numbers are lower than expected. I am just going to throw an extra couple of kits into each package... hope that works for everyone.

I am weighing these right now and then will post the shipping amounts. They are lighter than I had thought, so they are in priority tyvek.

Jodi- we made the playdoh today and the kids loved it. We do this on a regular basis, but since it was their 'kit' they went nuts over making it together!

Elfmama- We also did the little kits you sent and they are just begging for more...they absolutely looooove them

Bonnie-The sand art especially was a huge hit with both... kept them busy for over an hour! yahoooo

Can you tell they couldn't restrain themselves? They keep asking for the others every day... trying to dole them out is hard.

Thank you to each of you for participating!
