Hi there, I really hope someone can help out. My friend is having some trouble with her serger. It's a babylock and barely used so nothing is mechanically wrong with it. I helped her get it going this weekend and it was working well.h She was sewing some wipes up last night and at some point one of her cone threads got caught up underneath the cone rack and she had to re-thread the machine. she has threaded it before and this time she even brought out the manual and did it word for word. It is chaining off nicely whitout any fabric in it, but as soon as she tries to sew something it stops chaining.

any ideas what could be the problem? I've seen my mom's machine do this, but i have been unable to make friends with that machine yet so I can't help her fix it.

any help is much appreciated, hopefully it's just something simple..

She could try putting in fresh needles.

I have had this problem twice.

once it was that the needle was not in all the way
the other time, it was the timing. I hope that isn't though. :(

Thanks for posting for me Erin! I was having serger issues at the same time as internet issues.... grr. It was the timing that needed to be adjusted on my machine. It seems they didn't tighten the lower looper and when that thread caught and broke it pulled the looper out of whack. No biggie, my repair man had it fixed later the same day and only charged me $30.
