Wow, I didn't even realize this forum was here. I guess I should browse around the site instead of using the "view new posts" link everytime, huh?

I have a 6 year old dd (turned 6 the middle of May) who just started 1st grade this year.

I swear there are times that I wonder if she's not "getting me back" for being such an easy going baby. *sigh* I can't wait to see who she is in 8 years from now. LoL :)

I'll be jumping around between these three forums since I have one in each :)

My ds is 8 - going on 18 with tons of attitude lately - aarrghh. I had him at the doc the other day b/c he had this persistent cough and congestion that, to spite my attempts had been hanging on and the ped commented "well, it hasn't diminished his energy level at all". He is constantly moving. The teachers he has had the past 2 years have made comments leaning towards having him diagnosed with ADD/ADHD but the ped says try discipline or dietary changes before we even think about medication (meds not an option for us, really). I have been trying to learn more about the allergy to food dyes because I have noticed he does seem to have meltdowns not long after eating something that could contain this dye. This is all new to me so any links, info, etc. would be appreciated. Anyway, he is really a sweetheart most of the time :), is soooo wonderful with his baby sisters, active, fun, silly, ... Another thing we are thinking of doing is enrolling him in something like Tae Kwon Do to help channel some of that energy. We'll see :)

got a 6 yo son who started first grade too this year! fulllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll of energy. we call him a cat because he will be sitting down then he just jumps up - runs around in circles - then sits back down. he'll do that all nite. i have no clue as to how he stays still in school - but he does!!!

glad this forum is here...this age can be tough!!!!!!!!!!! (although - he looked sooo darn cute this morning for school!)

Mama of a six year old ds here, too.

Nice to meet you all. Isn't it funny how we seem to always discuss our babies on forums.

NAK I've got a 7 yr old who's in 1st gr. We chose to hold him back a year because he just wasn't ready socially.

I have a 7 year old he will be 8 in January, and I will then have a 6 year old as well.

My Joshua is in the 2nd grade but we are having some issues and by the end of the week he may be going back to 1st grade hopefully not but we will see.

He has aspergers and bipolar so things can be quite a challenge with him, but he is my big baby (oldest child) and I couldn't imagine life without him.

I have a 6-year old son, turned 6 at the end of May! he's in first grade and he's also a bundle of energy. I volunteer in his class once a week and am not sure how the teacher gets 18 of them to sit relatively still in order to do anything.

I think that the Tae Kwon Do is a great idea (I forgot which Mama mentioned it earlier) - we have Daniel doing TKD and it's great for self-discipline and concentration - he's got his first belt already and is so proud of himself.

I have an 8yo and I feel incredibly blessed and lucky that she's such an easy child and for the most part I have no problems with her. :)

I have a 12 year old and an 8 year old. Both girls. My 8 year old is learning delayed and has troubles with school. She's a challenge medically speaking, but lights up the room that she walks into.
