I bought it off a mama here for 10yo DD.. It is so hard for me to gauge her because she is HS and in some ways not as.. ummm... I don't know how to put it, mature? Well she is *very* responsible but not so mature if that makes sense.
BUT I don't want her experiencing things not knowing what's going on.
So did you read this to your DD (I am going to read it with her), if so when?

we began going over it at 8. My 11 y/o still picks it up every once in a while. My other DD who turned 8 during the summer enjoys reading it and asking questions.

That book sounds interesting.

I wonder if I should inter-library loan it for my 12 and 10-1/2 year olds? But I've been teaching them stuff as we go along....however, I may have missed something?

What I have read of it so far I really like :)

I recently got it for my dd...gave it to her on her 10th birthday.

I got it for my dd for her 9th bday. She reads it often and can't wait to have "boobs"...it's weird, because I was the opposite. She shows me everyday and is convinced they are growing... :) . We love the book here!!

I also got it for my daughter on her 10th birthday.

We've had it for a few years (I guess I was planning ahead) and my dds are 7 and 9. My 9 yo has been reading it a lot lately because she's convinced her breasts are growing-LOL) and my 7 yo likes to look at the pictures! I admit, I haven't read it all the way through, but what I have read I like.

My daughter got it last Christmas. She's 9. She's a bit immature too, but she read it and put it away. She takes it out every now and then and mostly giggles at the tampon page, but that's about it. We talk about these things all the time though.

Erk, tampon page?? :eek: I am thinking of getting this book for Suki, 12. She has full boobage, hair growth, and smelliness, but no period yet. I am pretty open about things, but I think a good explanatory book would help, too, and I have heard good things about this one.

So, just how in depth do they go? She is homeschooled, too, and pretty sheltered in regards to a lot of things to do with the uhh...reproductive functions, and I don't mind keeping it that way for a little longer. I don't mind her knowing things like the functions of the ovaries and stuff, but a description of exactly how a baby is conceived would prob be a *leetle* too much for us, lol.

Oh wow... mamas who are thinking about this book, go to a bookstore and look at it. I can't believe how wonderful it is!!! My dd was given this as a xmas gift by her aunt when she was 8 yrs old. It is soooo non-threatening. I really feel it is on a kids' level, and I've never heard of a mom not liking it or approving of it. Yes, it is graphic, but not assaulting. The pics are all animation.

i finally picked this up. I like so far (I've looked through it alone and we will do read it togehter), except i would prefer it didnt have the tampon page in there. I just dont see that as something i was wanting to discuss yet.

I gave this book to my homeschooled dd when she was 11 (and after starting her period). She still reads things now and then and is 13. She was telling me the other day she was reading some before bed. I think it is a great book.

I just gave it to my dd right after her 9th b-day. She looks at it often and asks lots of questions.
I think reading it with her is a great idea too.

gave dd her book when she turned 11 last september. i remember thinking i wish it didn't have the tampon page as well as i didn't want to get into that w/her. she hasn't asked any questions...though i don't notice her reading it too often.

It has a tampon page?? I REALLY need that. I need to teach dd, for swimming, but so far, I am just too embarrassed. :rolleyes:
