I guess we just moved up in our *crunch level*. :hahaha: ;cool: :hippy:

We've been wanting to build a straw bale house for a while, now. We've got friends building one and we love theirs. We love the eco-friendly, super energy efficient nature of the straw. The list goes on and on.

We've been looking the past few months for a house to buy and we were getting ready to bid on one that was a major fixer, but had a barn, hay storage, chicken coop, stream, land etc...along with an amazing view. At the last minute, I checked the MLS listings and found ***our dream home*** on 1.44 acres, chickens, duck, field, fruit trees, amazingly beautiful landscaping, views, radiant floor heating (ooh la la), etc. It had just been listed and to top it off, it was in our price range. :drop: We went that day to see it and immediately placed a bid. We got it!

We're on :cloud9:

So....now I'm wondering if any of my amitymama sisters live in straw bale houses?

We don't live in one, but we think they're neat and we'd considered building one before. Congratulations! I've seen lots of pictures but I've never been inside of one. I think they're ideal in so many ways. Enjoy it!

I'd love to see pics. I am trying to convince DH we need to build one. It is not going well. He is still too mainstream.

Oh wow, how exciting!!! Congratulations!!! You HAVE to show pics when you get in.

My husband wants to build a strawbale house, I'm still not sure what building technique I'd like to use. We are looking into alternative building techniques and diy.

Congratulations again on uping your crunch!!!!

Amy,
Still waiting on those pics you promised! ;)

I am very excited for you! What an awesome place to move, too. Tell your little chicken cooper hi! Brian got a kick out of the chicken cooper story. Sounds like something Sky would say.

Congrats, congrats, congrats!

That is awesome, Amy!!! Is it in the same area you are in now? I knew some folks with Straw bale in Tucson. Actually, this friend of ours built a castle shaped house in the mountains. Very nice.

Pictures please!!!!!
