Hey Mamas,
I am planning on lockin' it up here soon and was hoping to get some suggestions/ideas for a successful 'clean' look. I met a girl at the book store who said she just kept twisting and teasing and didn't wash for 3 months but that she had a friend who started her locks at the same time and continued to shampoo and both looked equally good. I am currently shampoo free (baking soda and vinegar) but I need som suggestions on how to separate the locks evenly so they will look good. My hair is about 5 inches long now (I just donated 16 inches to Locks of love) and I am not sure how long it needs to be to dred cause I know it shrinks when you do it. Thanks for any help!

no advice, but I'm jealous. I still want dreds, but DH is sort opposed. ;)

check out http://www.knottyboy.com/ plenty of info. You can skip the wax if your hair likes to tangle but don't try to dread clean hair. A little dirt really helps things "stick". I have also hear of people using a crochet hook to catch any stray hairs.

I have an appointment for synth dread in Oct. I'm SO looking forward to something new with my hair. Just wasn't willing to loose all of it though if I turn out to look like a complete dork with deads. I"m a hair wimp!
