Dear Deborah,
I am in awe at what you and your friends put together so quickly -- and at the same time, immensely grateful.
On the little jacket with my font, you may have read this:
;'-;'-;'-;'-;'-;
My first linguistic love is the alphabet--all alphabets, if you will, but in particular the Roman and the Sanskrit, or Devanagari. In my years of studying alphabetical patterning as a key to unlock the personality, I have found the following to be true:
* when you study an alphabet you study a writing system;
* when you study a writing system you study a culture;
* when you study a culture you study belief systems;
* when you study belief systems you unearth spiritual traditions;
* when you unearth spiritual traditions you touch the Universal Soul;
* when you touch the Universal Soul you have marked a complete circle back to the alphabet, for that is what it echoes.
* The alphabet invites us to rid our mind of negative self-talk and open our hearts to ourselves, for only when we do this can we open our hearts to anyone else.
* Handwriting uses the pen to take the writer on a sublime inward journey to make that possible.
* Each movement of the pen is a personal statement of our self-image. Each stroke of the Vimala Alphabet is based on the simplicity and mathematical precision of Sacred Geometry; when you move the pen to shape one of these letters, you are tapping into the most sacred part of your psyche. I know this not from belief, but from experience.
* My personal invitation to you is to play with this font, and above all, enjoy it. Use the optional characters--particularly the gh ligature. Then, if you are so inclined, pick up your pen now and again and imitate a letter or two. If you are the adventuresome type and choose to redesign your autograph---get ready for the ride of your life!
May the blessings of the Alphabet be yours!
;'-;'-;'-;'-;'-;
The focus of all I teach is multilevel: building a Spirit-based view of life through development of body, mind, feelings, and Spirit. How? Through releasing (or, for children, simply not incorporating them into handwriting!) all handwriting strokes that reflect attitudes that prohibit Spirit from functioning through and within us at the highest level possible.
Self-suppressive traits are rife in every handwriting system I have studied. D'Nealian has me catch my breath when I see children using it; the old Palmer system makes me want to fall over backward in a dead faint.Italic? Arggggghhhhh. The main reason I worked for so many years on developing/designing an alphabet that simply would not make room for negative attitudes is knowing in my heart of hearts what is possible through "healthy" writing. I have dedicated my life to spreading this awareness.
Can you imagine the freedom you would feel if all negative attitudes were missing from your life? Stop and ponder. It's called liberation! It's called freedom to be! With my alphabet, the kids have a chance to begin their lives from a Spirit-focused approach instead, as adults, to REdesign their attitudes to get there.
My doctorate is in Religious Studies. My doctoral thesis: Alphabetical Traditions their Roots and Expressions. I have studied --- literally dived into -- every known alphabet in the world from the beginning of time. By merely looking at a writing system, it's easy to tell what the focus of that culture is. Through the years (lifetimes?) I have come to understand what each stroke means. Not only through study but, like Steiner and Montessori,. through the inner guidance of Spirit. We can't reach any profound understanding until we access that part of us.
With a heart full of thanks to you and your friends I'm going to reply to your jewel of a document --including comments /suggestion of Kimberly, Lea & Robin -- and I can't wait. WHOO HOO! It THRILLS me to hear from such intentional, dedicated, loving moms! There IS hope for the children! There IS hope for the world! Yes, God!
I've gone into seclusion through Monday, just to assemble answers for you in a cohesive manner -- so I won't be poking my head out of the office until I get done what I want to get done. I will be checking e-mails for one from you if you care to send it; other than than---I won't be replying to anyone else.
I'll leave you with a few thoughts to ponder:
These are the opening words of Chapter XVI of the Bhagavad Gita ("The Song of God" -- one of the many scriptures of India)
"There are 26 qualities we must prefect before we can be free.""
[Guess where each one lives?]
May you wrap yourself in the blessings of the Alphabet!
