My dd is 4 and is potty trained during the day but at night a total different story. We are trying hard but we need some help. She hates cloth diapers so we use pullups. I would like to get her out of those but don't know what to do. She wants to wear underwear but she pees alot at night. We have done the no drinks 2 hours before but it is so hot she wakes up thirsty. We did the waker her up in the middle of the night but the next day she is cranky.
I need maybe 2 trainers for night time but I need them to fit a 42 pounder. I was thinking if I made a pair of MM fleece shorts she could wear those with her panties then go from there?? I don't even know if this would work. I don't have my pattern with me and I am not good at making my own and don't have a clue who would make something that we need.
I need it to be thin and to fit her weight. I am so lost at what to do and use besdies pullups and I am tired of buying them ykwim! My older DD just was so easy. Jessica wants to wear panties so bad. Maybe I could make a pair of panties with some kind of layer of fabric? I would even buy something if anyone makes them or has something good?

My 4 year old also has potty issues. :( My older two were soooo much easier. Until recently, my 4 year old would pee a lot at night. I was putting bedwetter pants on her (my own pattern) and they worked great. They are pull on style with PUL or lightweight Windpro outer and have FOE at the waist, microfleece inside (because I didn't want her to be woken up at night from the feel of the wetness) and an enclosed soaker of hemp fleece. Anyway, these were working great to hold the pee for 9 months or so. But then she also started to poop at night in them. Every night! Well, since these are pull on style, well that was a big mess to clean up every time! So I switched her to Pull-ups so I could just undo them from the sides (and I liked not having to deal with washing them). It didn't take me long to get sick of Pull-Ups. They stink so bad and I hate having to buy them and then I feel guilty for all that waste I'm throwing away. Plus, to make matters worse she started peeing more in them. I don't know if it was because of the heat of summer and she was drinking more, or what. But I got fed up with it. When she ran out of Pull-Ups the last time, I just didn't buy anymore. I put a waterproof pad on top of her sheet (there is already a felted wool blanket underneath her sheet acting as a waterproof pad), then several thick towels, and I asked her to sleep on it naked from the waist down. She did great! She did not pee or poop on herself. We continued this way for a few nights, and then we added regular panties. After a few nights of no messes, I got rid of the extra towels. Now she sleeps in panties and pajama bottoms on a regular sheet (with waterproof pad underneath, JIC).
So maybe you might want to try what we tried. Just let her go naked (with plenty of absorbency underneath her just in case) for one night. I really suspect the Pull-Ups inhibit potty-learning in some cases (like my daughter's).
Or if you want, you can try making her waterproof bedwetter pants. For a 4 year old you will need a lot of absorbency so they may not be very thin. I use hemp since it is a tad more absorbent for less bulk.
My dd is doing well at night, but she is having problems during the day. It's not pee, it's poop. She can't seem to get to the potty in time (sometimes), or if she does make it she doesn't wipe well enough and gets poop all over her panties. When this happens, we clean her up and change panties, of course. But I'm so worried about her starting Kindergarten in a few weeks. If she has an all-out accident I'm sure the teacher will know and will call me and/or deal with it appropriately. But if she just doesn't wipe well enough, then maybe the teacher won't even notice and my girl will be walking around with poopy panties. :eyes: I'm going to watch for the sew-along because those training panties might be what I should send her to school in, JIC. :)
