No matter what winter holidays you celebrate (or even if you don't celebrate any), little gifts to have on hand are always a good thing! Since I can never come up with ideas for stocking stuffers, I thought I would start a swap for small gifts to go into my children's stockings.. and the interest seems to be there, so here we go :)
I'm modeling this swap after the sewing board swaps.. the focus on this is for the children in our lives - and you may send in 5, 10 or 15 items to be swapped. Item value should be $3-7. Please label packages with your name (username required, real name appreciated) so that I can avoid giving you back your own items :) There will also be a smaller mama swap option.. you may choose to send in 5 items for a mama swap if you'd like to - and I'll send the mama portion back wrapped if you'd like (nothing fancy though - LOL) so that you may save your gifts for a surprize whenever you need one or for whichever holiday you celebrate. Please mark whether items are for a certain gender or age as well as if it's intended for the mama swap or the children's swap. You might think it's obvious, but remember I've got a newborn in the house.. and few remaining brain cells.
Packages must be shipped to me (including delivery confirmation) by October 31st to give me enough time to recieve them and get them back to you before December. Please include a return address label - even if it's just a sheet of paper with your addy that I can attatch to your package. Every mama needs to send a DEPOSIT OF $5 FOR RETURN SHIPPING AND DC by the time I receive their swap items. This may not be enough for your shipping so you may need to send me more after your package is shipped. If your shipping amount is less than $5 then I will return the difference to you. I can accept funded paypal (please put in the title line that it's a swap deposit and your real and user names in the body of the message), checks, cash or money orders (send at your own risk). If you choose to send a check, cash or money order, then please put it into an enveloppe and label it with "shipping deposit", and your real and user names.
People with PETS, please check your items for hair before sending and remember there are those who are sensitive/allergic to pet hair and dander.
People who smoke/live in a home with SMOKERS, please be aware that some people are very sensitive or allergic to smoke odors and act accordingly. Thank you.
This is a crafting and sewing swap - all crafters and sewing mamas are welcome to participate. Beginners, hobbyists, professionals, everyone is welcome!!!
Here's a list of everyone participating and who I've recieved pkgs/deposit from - names in purple I've got a package and deposit from.. turquoise is one or the other, but not both. :)

I am embroidering a little "Treasure pouch" for them.

And if your child's name is not spelled correctly in your post let me know. Or if you are not on my list and have an "older boy" that I missed please let me know also.
I can't wait to see what everyone is sending in.

Ive made earrings and bracelets.
The earrings can go to young girls/teenage girls or the mom's, w/pierced ears.
The bracelets are made using black rubber tubing and glass "pony like beads". I consider these to be gender neutral and can fit young/teenage boys or girls or the moms. The bracelets are too big for my almost 3 year old but he'd still play w/it lol. Ive had to take them away several times and put them where he cant reach them lol.
Id like to say I will have them mailed by Friday but Monday at the latest.

I finished my kid's items last night. I made mini scrapbooks/journals, and included some paper, tags and stickers to get the kids started for decorating their books. There are a couple of baby themed ones in there, I was thinking the girly one would be for Anu, since she just had a little girl recently. :)
The items I had set aside for the mama part of the swap a loooooong time ago have disappeared on me :( I have to try to search again, but if I can't find them, I will have to come up with something else quick! I will probably mail tomorrow or Wednesday, unless i miraculously find the first set of items. They were wrapped and everything!

LOL - plus your box is heavy, Hastings :) You'll get to see just how obsessive compulsive I am.. there are individual bags in there labelled for you and for Tiff as well as for Lorelei and for Ambre along with a note telling you what the things that didn't fit into the bags were intended for.
I had lists - and lists of lists.. and even more lists. And I ended up putting in some extra stuff to make sure that no one got any of their own stuff back, since we had some people drop out and it skewed the ages a bit.. so I gave some of it to a friend for her little boy's stocking too since I had some duplicates left over.
It was a lot of fun though, and I loved hosting it.. but after dragging it all to the post office, in the middle of dealing with our flooded house.. well, DH says I can't host anymore and he wishes I'd just quit swapping. I'll agree to not host.. but I'm sticking with the crafty swaps :)

LOL - my mistake was sending HIM to the post office and telling him to make sure to get delivery confirmation on everything... he lugged all that stuff out, came back to vent.. went back out to the car.. came back in asking if I really needed dc on everything.. went back out.. came back in asking if I'd promise not to send any more packages for the rest of the year.. and then came home to tell me he'd just spent $160 on postage and I needed to quit swapping. He did cheer up when I told him everyone was paying their own postage, but boy was he a grumpy man.. really though, he probably would have been okay if we werent in the middle of the homeowners issues.
lupineperriwink
11-30-2005, 12:45 AM

And, ahem, I'm still waiting on an arch measurement
Korwynne
11-30-2005, 05:13 PM
well, umm.. the flood in my living room affected the part of the room where the main computer was.. and the printer.. and that all had to be taken apart and dried out before it could be used, then we didn't have a place to set it up, thanks to all the living room furniture in the dining room.. and then we don't have a special little connecting hookie up thingie to make the printer work with the laptop.. and.. the boxes had to get out of the way because of all of the above.
What really sucks is that I'd even bought a nifty little postal scale *just* for this swap.. and thanks to the darn water heater, my little scale is sitting there, unused and unloved... :wah:
And, I posted to the other thread, but I'll tell you here too.. I'm trying to search through the chaos that is now my dining room to find the tape measure.. and as soon as I find it, I'll PM you :)

Korwynne
11-30-2005, 06:55 PM
LOL - open it up so that you can see the inside.. the part that lifts up is a dolly blanket that's attatched. :) Toys r us has little dolls that size, I know - and I figure it'd be a great size for bendies or nature table dolls :) Pull the string, it scrunches up at the top and becomes a purse :) Hastings made both those and the frog bags :) If anyone is dying for one, I did end up with one of the dolly purses for each of my girls (both are red/white/blue) and a frog bag for Josh that I might be willing to trade.. it's not like Leila is going to be playing with dolls anytime in the near future - and the other two don't know about them and therefore wouldn't notice, kwim? :) I'd take a picture if I could.. but again, that'd have to be downloaded onto the main computer, which is somewhere in the mess that is my dining room...
oh, and I do have a feedback link.. it's in my siggy :) I know it'd be in the original post if it doesn't show up here :)
