I am curious, many people, no matter what religion believe in ghosts. Do you believe in them, and why or how are they here?

I've posted this before...but in the house I grew up in, a spirit used to leave me presents. Once a black, glass bead necklace and once a silver cross on a velvet rope.
The story - according to my old neighbor - was that the mistress of the house (which was built in 1901), lost all of her children to miscarriage or shortly after birth. She had one daughter who lived to the age of 5, but she fell over the stair rail on the balcony and died.
We moved into the house when I was 5 and my room was the nursery. Somone used to always check on me at night...lean over me and check my breath. I could hear and feel her breathing.
As I grew older, the incidents stopped. My sisers now live in the same house and report nothing out of the ordinary.
I am not afraid of ghosts...at all. Fascinated mostly.

Yes.
I can't explain why. But when I was a teenager, I remember feeling something in my room. And when my cousin died I felt her presence too. And when a friend died her spirit was almost tangible. Both her husband and I were overwhelmed at how much we felt her.

I too, believe ghosts are here because they don't realize they are dead or they can't pull away from their body (which is why I beleive in creamation) or that maybe they are here to do work that didn't quite get done in their life.

I am freaked out to use Ouija boards though. Ever since I saw Exorcist. Still cannot watch movies that have to do with ghosts or possession. Anyone seen Others? I heard it was a good movie. I want to see it but I could barely handle the Sixth Sense.

Well, I don't rule out the existence of ghosts or spirits. Somethings I have experienced are very difficult to explain.

Also, I have a friend who grew up in a house (built in 1600s) that was 'haunted' -- lights turning on and off, chairs moving, etc. Not in a violent way, but almost just to let her know that something was there. My friend had also seen, many times, a woman walking around outside the house, but when she approached, the woman disappeared. When she was in HS, the Penn Archeology dept came out and did a dig in the house's cellar; they found the bodies of a Rev War veteran and his wife.

I admit that the idea of ghosts in *my* life gives me the willies, big-time! Just thinking about my friend's house (above) makes all the hairs on my scalp and arms prickle!
