I just had to share!! lol
Here's a little back ground. We have been living in a tiny 2 bedroom apartment for the past 5 years. We have spent the last year trying to find another apartment in our price range with no luck. This is a university town so everything is really dumpy and expensive or jsut extremely expensive and they don't want kids. Our apt now is falling apart and our landlord has pretty much disapeared.
A couple months ago we went and looked at a farm house jsut outside of town by the lake. It's exactly a 7 minute drive from where we live now (downtown). The landlord was in the middle of redoing all the floors and completely fixing it up. At first he wanted $1000 + for it which was pretty good considering the size and the land it's on. We talked him down to $900. The only catch was he didn't know when he was going to be done..hopefully by september. We didn't hear from him for awhile adn we went and looked at the place through the windows and it still wasn't done (about 3 weeks ago) So i left him a note saying we were still interested and to give us a call.
He called today, he had gotten pretty sick jsut after we went to see the place, somehting to do with his brain. so he hadn't been able to work on it, but was planning to start again on it this week. He hopes to have it done by october first. Then the best part he says i'd like to give it to you for $800 a month!!!!!!!!!!! Thats what we are paying now for a tiny 2 bedroom apt with no yard just concrete!!!! I almost fell over!!!! We have offerd to help him finish fixing it up..and i think he may take pete up on that. Which is great, i hope he does.
I'm just so happy right now, i was starting to feel really crappy about not being able to find anywhere to live and now this is all working out and for so cheap!!!!!

ahh, thanks for letting me ramble

oh ya one more thing. I was a little freeked out about living close to a corn field, so i asked the landlord if they spray with a plane and he said no . But what else shouls i be concerned about living near fields? (for the most part it's jsut houses out there but a few houses back is a corn field) Don't worry about scaring me!!! lol

I know nothing about corn feilds, but wanted to say congrats on finding a HOUSE for that cheap!!

It is seemingly impossible to find a place that is ok with kids that is not a total dump. Took me 4 months of calling and driving by places, and getting denied, and oh my goodness. Nightmare.

Heres to hoping your landlord follows through.

That is awesome!!! Congratulations!

Send some of those good-house vibes my way, eh? We're about to try to rent or buy in a very very tight market.
