I should start by saying that ds is breastfed.
His poops were bright yellow for quite a while and fairly odourless but all of a sudden this week they are more of an orangey colour and darker and smell kind of funny. They're also *so* runny that they completely absorbe into the diaper as if it were a pee (but definitely not because some of it gets on the cover). What's going on? Is he okay? This has been about a week.

Just my experience, if you're worried, take him in.
When babies get past that newborn phase, some of them use more and more of the breastmilk, meaning they excrete less of it, at least as solid waste. With mine, it means they poop less frequently (Ezra was known to poop as infrequently as once a week). So, maybe what you're seeing is the result of your DS using up everything else. If he seems healthy, I wouldn't worry.

there is such a large range of normal when it comes to breastfed poops. sounds pretty normal to me...but you can always call a ped and ask. i don't think i'd worry about it too much.

exactly what ds's poops are like most of the time. i've asked the ped, and he just said that he thinks it sounds normal.

Thanks for the reassurance. He acts very healthy and is growing quite well. I'll probably just wait and ask at his 4 month appt if nothing changes.
