Do you make weekly lesson plans? Do you just wing it day by day? Do you use pre-made lesson plans? Or none of the above.
I was just wondering how everyone else plans (or not plans) their week. I usually write up lesson plans on a weekly basis adjusting to the needs and interest of my children.

I wing it myself, but would love to know a better way!
I've just been taking Whitley's lead on things, so I think it'd be hard for me to plan too much. Some days she wants to do 5 or 6 pages in ETC and other days we get caught up in "just" reading together.

I have set small "monthly" goals that I *hope* to reach...I then make a "rough" plan for the week and then broken down by day....but it's very flexible and sometimes we end up doing 4 science lessons in one day and very little of other subjects. But, it all tends to even out and I just try to stay somewhat on track to achieve our monthly goals.

I write daily plans each week but 9 times out of 10 something comes up and we don't follow them exactly as I planned. And I'll admit that does get to me. I'm trying (unsuccessfully...lol!) to let go of my control freak ways in regard to homeschooling so I think I need a different approach to planning. I like to have a plan for the week but if it's spelled out day by day I tend to feel really rigid about it which I don't like.

I usually write in pencil and keep a big eraser handy. I do most the things in my weekly plan, but usually something comes up and I have to rearrage things. Each week has gotten better. I am starting to learn how to not to overplan and leave room for the unexpected. But I do find that it is easier for me to erase lesson plans rather than look at a blank piece of paper with no plans.

I use Sonlight :) I had such big dreams to write my own stuff, but I just can't get it all together. I like the fall-back of some structure, with the ability to be flexible depending on interests.

I use Sonlight also. I love how it's scheduled for me. Everything else we do one lesson a day (like Math)

I'm using a few different programs that spell things out (Saxon, TWTM), but I RARELY follow them, I like them for reasons other than being told what to do each day ROFL...
That being said...I get an idea for the week, jot it down and take each day as it comes, 9 times out of 10 I don't follow any one specific plan ROFL...but it's what works for us. :P

my girls are interested in keyboarding and so they zoom ahead instead of doing one lesson a day. When it gets harder they do fewer lessons when it gets easier they do more! The same goes for typing and Spanish.

I've done a little bit of each.
These days I have a general idea of what we are covering/working on and then write it down after we've completed it.
It was too discouraging to write down my plans daily/weekly/then finally monthly, just to not finish it and have to write them down again.

I gave up on doing the planning myself, my life is just too hectic, and I am not the most organized person in the world.
We bought the abeka kit, and are waiting for it to arrive.

I have lesson plans done for the first 13 weeks of school but they are flexible. But I like have a plan and knowing what I would "like" to accomplish by a certain point. I am pretty flexible on things though, like I only plan one math lesson a day if we really get into and do more then I just note it on my lesson plan and make the necessary changes to the next week. This happens frequently on math, handwriting and reading. I plan one lesson and we do more. Actually right now I am doubling up my assignments because it is pretty consistent. If I see that isn't working then I will back off.
I am a pretty strict though in that we read a section of the Bible every morning when we start school. If I find that the history or read aloud isn't holding their attention then we move on to something else and I either pick it up later or I just mark it out.

Last year we were pretty much winging it and at the end of the year we weren't done. This year I looked through each subject and took how many lessons there were by the weeks I plan to do school (LOL) I divided them and figured how many a week. We'll see how it goes and a few subjects it looks like we still might have some left at the end but we'll see:-)
