I will post the instructions for drafting the pattern tomorrow, but thought I would start with a materials list.
For drafting the pattern, you need:
interfacing or pattern ease (something to draw your pattern on)
a pen or pencil
a straight edge, I use a yard stick
tape measure
The amount of fabric you need depends a lot on the length and size of your skirt. I am between a med and lg in ks patterns and it takes me around 1.5 yds of 45" fabric and less than a yard of 60" wide fabric. I have used prr twills and cord, stretch poplins, and quilters wovens all with great success.
You will also need elastic for the waist. I use 1 1/2" elastic because I like wide waistbands, but use what you like the most.
I want to stress that you should use fabric you are not attached to the first time you try a new project. :)
