Evan is still nursing once about every two hours at three months old... is this still "normal"? I ask because he had been making it four hours for a while but now hes back to every two hours.
Tammy
It's "normal" at our house. There is some variability, like 3 nights one way, two nights something else, and something else yet again on another night. I try to see all long stretches of sleep (day or night) as gifts from the universe.

I co-sleep so I never wake up all the way.. just turn and pop one in, and fall back asleep.
I have wondered myself- thought of trying to keep track.. but just can't make myself take the energy - I value my sleep too much.
But I would estimate it was at least 3 times a nite..and Gray is 23 months.

LOL!! I like that... I think I will try to keep that in mind while I'm feeling so sleepy these days.

We cosleep too.... and yet I KNOW he's waking up 3-4 times at night (after 10) at least.

LOL me too! I know she wakes at least 2-3 times but after the first 2-3 weeks when I was setting my alarm clock for every three hours to make sure she woke since she was early, I just make myself wake up enough once to change her and that's it. I think my kids just sense it is not a good idea to wake Mom lol For the OP, if babe was sleeping good and now is waking more to eat I would guess a growth spurt. Give it a week and it will prob be back to normal.

I wish I could learn this skill, but nope, ain't going to happen (the being able to sleep through a nursing).
Jonathan wakes anywhere from 3-8 times a night and nurses as often as every hour.
I think it's funny when I think a good night involves only nursing three times.

LOL... in my experience once they go past a good growth spurt at 3-4 mos they tone down the night nursing. Now Faith is nursing at 11 or 12, and nursing at 5 or 6, then again at 8. Then again... I'm another one that sleeps right through it, so if she was nursing all night, I wouldn't remember in the am.
I f=do remember all my kids doing cluster-feedings at night off and on until they slept through the night... which in my house doesn't come until 6 mos or so. *sigh*
My SIL is shocked that my kids can't sleep through the night...she brags how her DD slept/sleeps 10hrs since 3mos. Yep, formula fed/cribbed.
I still wouldn't trade nursing or co-sleeping for 10 hrs of straight sleep!!

Yup, I was at work yesterday (I work 4 hours every other Monday and sling Jonathan the entire time - works really well for everyone), anyway (had to explain that one), I was at work and talking to the ladies. Our director of finance and administration was talking with us and was asking how Jonathan was sleeping. We'd had a terrible night. She said, that's why I stopped nursing and I thought ?!?!?! it's better to sleep uninterupted than to feed your baby the best food possible?
I'm exhausted, but I wouldn't trade nursing or sleeping with babe for anything.

journey is 6 1/2 mo. & she nurses tons all night. probably every 1 1/2-2 hours. i opt to not look at the clock----I DONT WANT TO KNOW! some advise an older mom told me was to not count the number of hours of sleep i get.
i have wondered if all ff babes sleep longer? or if it's just the ones i hear about from moms bragging on their sleep?

We actually took the alarm clock out of our room, so I cannot keep track, and I feel much happier about how much sleep I am getting. So, maybe it's true.

thank you all so much for all the posts about those frequent nightwakers... you make me feel normal! Davy wakes between 5 and 10 times a night. A good night is one where I can sleep 1.5hours for one stretch... exhaustion hits about 8:30pm, but stubborn me stays up until 10pm-ish. Thankfully Anna only wakes once or twice... oh my.

i have an 11 week old (breastfed, co-sleeping) that has been sleeping 6-9 hours at night for a while now. i think of it as a blessing for getting through all of our nursing issues. he has never gone longer than 2 hours without nursing (for 45 minutes...used to be) during the day! i actually had to wake him up every 2 hours for a couple of weeks...curses! i also think that he sleeps so long because we co-sleep and i am the hardest sleeper in the world...i meant it!

3, 6, 9 ....growth spurts. that's probably what's going on.
we are on vacation this week and in a different place and jackson is nursing the heck outta me at night. *sigh* but usually he's nurses 2 or 3 times a night...which is from about 10 until 7 am.
