I want to buy the pattern(darling diapers one) but Im nervous I wont be able to make nice enough ones to let my DD leave the house w/ them on :eyes: So tell me your experience w/ it. Does Joanns sell the leather type fabric that I need? Where do you get some of it?

Shelly! Is it you from LI? Remember me from uh...what was it called...the due in May board? Great to see you, Soph is adorable!! :hbeat:

I haven't tried it yet, but here's a free pattern that I found and printed out a while back. http://www.poopockets.com/free/footies/footies.htm That wasn't the question though, was it? I think it will be tricky because small things are hard to sew, IMO. I need to figure it out though because Tommy's ankles are so fat that his 24 month Robeez leave marks! I don't know about buying leather, I'm curious too.

Tina!! How have you been? Whats going on? How are the boys? Where did you go? :) How 24 month Robeez huh! Sophs still fits into 6-12 months size. But shes actually growing and fast! So hows Tommy ~walking? Sophia is just starting this week to get the hang of it! Strange place to bump into you :p I miss you!

Shelly they aren't too hard. I made these from that pattern but did some adjusting when I realized they were too big

they really aren't too hard but inevitably I keep fudging with them to adjust the size and fit as I make them every time. I even ripped up a pair of Brian's old robeez because I liked the fit of those so well.

The big problem is finding leather that is nice and soft like robeeze. Haven't been successful in finding something so soft and flexible.

What I have found that is typically pretty nice is leather from becky'sboutique - she's here at amity's and runs a coop for leather.... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Beckys_Suede_Leather/message/250

You can easily replace the elastic in the Robeez shoes. I did it once for my one of my older girls when the elastic left red marks on her ankles. Just cut out the old stuff and add 1/2"-1" when cutting the new elastic, then thread it through with a safety pin and sew the ends together.

I've used Becky's pattern too and I've been pretty happy with the results. The hardest part is sewing through the leather. I've only made 3 pair so far- here's a pic with 2 of them.

amy those are adorable! How did you do the lions? Does it take a special type of embroidery design to embroider the leather? I love those and the ice cream applique!
