I have read and re-read the directions for making a cinch sack like this: http://www.amitymama.com/vb/showthread.php?t=95593

I just don't get it! I am using 2 pieces of fabric. How do I sew them together? How do I put the strings in so they'll cinch? I can't find directions anywhere else for making a cinch sack, can someone please help me??? TIA!

are you wanting to make it backpack style like in that s&s or just a pouch type bag with a drawstring? there's a sew&show for a double drawstring pouch at sewingmamas.com that looks very straight forward and may be easier to conceptualize. i'd think it'd be easy to alter for just one drawstring if you wanted.

the one at sewingmamas is lined, but you could do it pretty easily unlined, too, by just sewing your two pieces together into a bag shape(sew on three sides with right sides of the fabric together) and then making a casing at the top by folding the edges over like a hem to make a casing (make it wide enough to fit your drawstring through). you'd have to leave a little open space in your outside seam for the drawstring to pull through (so, if you do a one inch casing, before you sew up the side seam, i'd measure one inch down and make a mark and then another mark at two inches down from the top edge, the when you sew up the side seam, leave the space between your marks unsewn). i hope that made some sense. ;pot:

eta: if this doesn't help, let me know what number post in marcey's s&s you get lost at.
