I am about to redraft my pattern to make it a bit longer for fall. I think it would be fun to gather our materials and draft and sew together. We haven't done one like this in a long time and it used to be something I really loved.

So, if there is enough interest, I will take pics as I draft the new pattern.

I'll do it. Maybe I can finally use up some of this fabric I've bought for myself. lol!

I'd be interested:). My mom wants a couple of gored skirts and I really dislike the My Favorite Things skirt pattern.

I would be interested. How much yardage are we talking... i want to use from my stash if possible.

I might be interested. I'm just starting up (though I learned a quarter century ago). I've just finished making two gored skirts, but have never done anything without a premade pattern. Don't know if I'm capable yet.

Maybe depending on when. I have been wanting to make one though.

sure...I need some mama skirts for fall. Is there any way to modify the pat. to make gores AND side slits? I think this style looks better on me since I'm so short (4'11")

I've got my pattern cut already, but I'll still participate. :)

I would love to make one if I can figure it out :)

Drafting the pattern is really pretty easy so I hope no one will let that scare them off. And I am happy to help anyone who needs some extra help and wants to send me their measurements after we get started.

I think it would be easy to make side slits on this too. I will think on that a bit too.

For yardage, it really depends on the size and length of the gore. I think a large would be about 2 yds of 45". I am between a med and large on ks stuff and can get my knee length skirt out of less than a yard of 60" wide fabric.

I'm in. I need to redo my pattern for more gores and I really wanted a new skirt. I just did a patchy one and neglected to add extra seam allowances to my 6 gore (oops) I now have a gorgeous skirt in blue Hoffman batiks (bamboo, florals, etc) that is about 3 inches too small and I'm out of fabric lol. Don't want that to happen again.

I'm interested! I need a new skirt or two.

About the side slits...I'm pretty sure I saw a gored skirt with optional side slits in the May 05 Burda WOF. I'll check tomorrow (it's 1am here and I must sleep!) If it is, then I'll see if the instructions are helpful (sometimes they're not so great).

I may be in for a try...I disliked the *my favorite things skirt* pattern as well. Not sure if the *gored* skirt looks good on me though :eyes:

Dumb question - what's a gored skirt?

It is a skirt made up of panels of equal size. I am about to do an sns of one

And how flattering are they for fluffy folks like me? I also like long skirts, not ones that stop at or above my calf, the ugliest part of my leg.

Personally, I think it is the most flattering skirt I've ever made and have lots of fluff around the middle. :)

You can draft your pattern to be as long as you want.

Gail, I'm as fluffy as they come and I really love how this style fits and looks on me.

okay, just threw my orange batik dragonflies in the washer so they'll be ready to go in an hour or so. Now I have to figure out what to do for a matching top. hmmmm
