Thanks for the inspiration! I needed a gift for my sister who likes pink and funky. The pattern called for stretch so of course I ignored that and did it with a woven. My sister is bigger than me so I made the body hole bigger so we can adjust it once she tries on. I left the sleeves long but she can trim them if she wants. My mother says she is really into shrugs right now ::crossing fingers::

The fuzzy pink has me in giggles. I definately need to give that shrug a try though. I have a short kimono jacket that I wear with everything, and it could use a companion lol.
i saw some of the fuzzy stuff on the dollar table at walmart tonight in taupe-- was wondering what in the world you could make-- that is perfect!!!
Sadly my walmart did NOT carry threads--- thats why we went by there in the first place :) But hey, I made it out without buying anything (and there was a great navy pointelle knit, and an awesome stripe that would be perfect for mama tops (red white black and grey)). I had DH with me though, and since I havent really sewn since Simon was born, I cant justify buying anything-- even dollar fabric, lol

Heather, it was *really* easy (I didn't really follow the pattern). I bought a smidge under two yards. Trimmed it into a neat rectangle, serged all four edges and folded it in half lengthways, right sides together. Straight stitched about 18" secured it, left a gap of just under a yard and then sewed the last 18" together.
Turn inside out and you are left with a tube with an unsewn bit in the middle to stick your arms through.
I wish I'd seen mine for $1! The pink was more like $4. Still a fairly inexpensive birthday gift though.
Allison, yes, that was Jon's Christmas pressie, he never buys himself anything so my brother and I bullied him into buying it.
