I posted under Teresa's thread yesterday, and I think I may have been misunderstood.
In no way did I mean to imply that unschoolers just play all day!
I meant that my DS shows no interest in learning anything, but after reading Allison's post I realized I was going about teaching my Henry the wrong way. (She suggested going to the library and getting books on Hot Wheels, etc since he loves them so much.)

I am sorry if my posts offended anyone. I have the utmost respect for unschoolers. I would love to unschool, hopefully I will be able to convince DH someday. (It took him almost a year to tell his coworkers that we HS. )

I saw your post and knew what you meant. I didn't find it offensive at all. I'm somewhere in the middle. Not totally unschooling but not extremely structured either. I didn't think you said anything offensive. :-)

I didn't take offense. My "just play" wasn't really directed at any post in the thread, that is something you hear a lot as an unschooler. I would think homeschoolers, in general, hear that one a lot since our kids have so much more free time.

And I don't think you are going about teaching your child wrong, you just teach differently than I. I think everyone has their own teaching and learning style.

yep, what she said. i didnt take any offense to your post at all. my "just playing" comment was written bc almost everyone i come across, when talking about unschooling, says "my kids would just play all day". so i tend to address that in any conversation about unschooling. tbh i hadnt even read your post until i read this one and went back to the original thread.
