Aiden, 21 months, has managed to hit Brenden, 2 months, in the head twice in the past 10 minutes. The first time with his hand, the second with the remote. OUCH! I've tried 1 minute time outs, he really doesn't care, telling him we use gentle hands, giving him extra attention (not when he hits, but at other times), giving Brenden attention when he's gotten hit. What else do I do? What methods of discipline work for a 21 month old? He's gotten out of hand lately and I really need to get a hold on this before he drives me nuts!

21 months is a rough age as he is really a babe himself. My eldest two are 21 one months apart, actually. The only solution was to keep the older one away from the baby. This meant I needed to make sure they were never alone together. I often wore my baby on the front (later on the back) to keep her from being hurt by my older baby. The solution to this is time. He will outgrow it, you just need to keep the baby safe in the meantime!

Thank you for your response Jeni. It is a tough age, huh?!?! Not a fun one either. He's such a sweetheart at times, but such a pistol at others. God love him! LOL! Both times he hit Brenden I was right with them. I just wasn't fast enough to catch him before he hit. :( My poor little guy was so caught off guard.
