When you guys refer to 'tracing' the patterns, what exactly do you do? I haven't seen the magazine yet, so I can't visualize...I assume the pattern is there in the book, you trace it, but is it in multiple pieces, or one fold out piece? do you use plain old 8X10 tracing paper, or something special?
BTW...I'm not cheating, just updating my to do list if anyone wonders why I am here asking after I just posted a long list of junk I have to do ROFL.

It's 3 pages, front & back, of patterns to trace. It's a little confusing at first, but not that bad once you get in to it. I use tracing paper that I bought from Nancy's Notions, but you can use interfacing or tissue paper... whatever suits your fancy ;) I don't know that I'd use 8x10 sheets though unless you don't mind taping them together.

However, I've been known to keep a roll of freezer paper around for tracing.

I once saw a mama here refer to it as tracing spriograph and I think that's a perfect description! The first few ottobre patterns I traced drove me batty but it doesn't bother me at all now. I use the JA's equivalent of swedish tracing paper when I trace, but I've heard some mama's here use the clear vinyl from JA's, or just tissue paper.
To give you an idea of what you'll be working with, not to scare you, but just so you'll be prepared...

 Shari! I remember the first time I opened one, I thought my eyes were going to fall out of my head, lol. Really though Tuesday, like she said, once you do a couple it's not too bad.
Fwiw, the plastic stuff that Becky/anikasmama was selling is what I use now. It's transparent which makes it a lot easier to trace through. I've used tissue paper, Nancy's Notions tracing cloth, cheap sew-in interfacing from JA (bought a bolt with a coupon so it wasn't too expensive). Anything you can think of will work :)
i *think* meg (nutmeg) created a page that's all about tracing with ottobre. I didn't bookmark it, but maybe search for her posts in the sewing forum. or maybe someone else out there has it bookmarked, I know meg's busy these days with her little dd.
