Yes, it is in cm, but there should be inches at the back of the instruction sheets. Or, most tape measures do both cm and inches.
What I do is measure chest and hips. Find those sizes, then adjust everything else. I measure once a quarter and keep those measurements posted in my sewing room.
For instance, Alex, who is a RTW size 5, is a 110 in Ottobre with 4cm added to a shirt length (back waist length is what I compared) and 6cm taken off the length of pants (outseam compared there). Obviously she is long torsoed, which is exactly how I would describe her if someone asked. Ellie I always have to shorten the sleeve length (that is measured too). I love Ottobre because these measurements are so much easier to adjust as you cutting out the pattern, rather than try and adjust afterwards.

OMG, I love the pic of your dd in your siggy. I just got some of that same stripe from Suzanne, and I love the look of the shirt you made from it. And your dd is absolutely adorable.

THANKS!! I am so proud of that shirt. The stripes line up and the neckline is not too wonky. I'm really amazed that it turned out so well. It was a :monkeydan moment.
I like that picture of her too. Not too cheesy, but just fun :)

Thanks for taking time to explain it to me . Ill def. get on tracing it now. ive got my DD's measurements down so thats one thing :)
once again thanks!!! Kathy
Heather gave a good explanation, just one thing I would add is that I have a spreadsheet in MS Excel that I have all of my kids and my niece's measurements in so that I can easily update it every few months (I try and do it when I get the latest Ottobre) and then reprint it to stick up on my bulletin board.
