Nico's officially starting 2nd grade now, and we are in the process of moving.

I have all of her work that she has done in 1st grade~ worksheets, writng, handmade books, projects, partially completed workbooks (we skipped activites that didn't suit her)...

Do you keep everything your child has done? How do you store it?

I am not a natural organizer, so I could really use suggestions and ideas!

I am not very organized myself, but I read books about organizing, and the best things I've heard are to go thru the stuff w/ the child, and keep only the things she would like (and maybe a few sentimental things for yourself as well). Artwork that is neat, but you don't need to keep, take a picture of, and just file the picture. Make everything fit into one box (and weed thru it again next year to see what else you can get rid of). If you have any lesson plans, ect. that might be required by your state, I'd keep that in the box, too. A regular bank box would work or you could get a plastic one. I'd keep pics and other small items in a smaller box inside, too, just for easier filing (like say a shoe box or something).

I got those accordian folders that have multiple slots in them, then we labeled each slot with a month, and we pick a few things to put in each month's slot. Then we've got a whole year in one folder, and we keep just the things that are special to me or to DS or DH (or all of us) or things I think show some milestone or special growth, etc.

LOL - when I feel guilty about throwing something out, I just pack it into an envelope to send to grandma or Auntie for a 'present'!

I've been watching this thread. I really like your idea annabanana :) I might just do that. I am also overflowing with papers that I can't seem to throw out.

I've been keeping everything in like a rubbermaid container. My thought was to go through and the really "neat" things to take a picture of and put that in an album. Good luck

We have to keep records with our ISP and are required to send in one or two pages from each subject, each quarter. It all fits neatly in a manilla folder with their attendance records, grade sheets etc...I throw away all the rest of the paperwork. Although I do keep seperate art files in the file cabinet in the garage...
