Do you do them? Other than Autumns poop issue she is healthy and fat and I just can't see the sense in dragging her into the base clinic with 15 other snot nosed kids to GET SICK. We are not vaccinating and I have no use for those hieght wieght ratios. DS has never been on thier charts and amazingly he is still alive at 5yrs! DH and inlaws are all about those visits but LOL its not DH that has to schlep the kids there and back. SIL takes thier baby in every 4 weeks and I just can't see what for. Don't get me wrong if something was wrong with DD I'd be the first in there. I call the nurse line whenever I have even the slightest question.
I am SUPPOSED to take Autumn in for her 2month soon and I just don't want to.

I'm glad my dr office isn't like that. I would be less likely to do them if there were sick kids there or if I had to wait. Our office has a seperate wait area for sick kids.
As it is now, we don't get to wait long enough. Cole gets mad because he really likes the toys they have there, and they call us in about 2 minutes after we get set down in the waiting area.
I like getting height/weight updates, if only for curiousity and since we go to teaching system, I really like working with residents. They are a lot more thorough than the doctors because they have the time to spend with you.

I don't mind taking them to our ped so much. They also have sick and well child rooms but for new babies that have a baby room that is another part of the office altogether. We never have to wait long. Once I was in there w/dd2 to check on her reflux, etc. and there were folks in the baby room - the admin lady told me to go wait in the doctors personal office. They try to get you in and out of there very quickly.

I guess in theory it's to check on how they are growing. I like to do them 'cause I'm always afraid there will be something wrong that I didn't catch, lol. Mostly peace of mind for me... and I always find something to complain about afterwards too... like last time w/Gracie's jaundice

What's the point? It's my chance to visit with the world's coolest ped!

Good point :) and I do like our ped; she is well-intentioned even when we don't agree :)

Yep, that's why I took DD in for her's, so she knows her dr and her dr knows her, so when important things came up, she wasn't as scared.
Course it helps that I have the rockingest ped in the world! Couldn't ask for a more AP supportive doc then the one I got :monkeydan
