Hey ladies - our son is now a big 7-month-old boy, somewhere a little over 20 lbs, sitting on his own. I tried slinging and the Snugli repeatedly from birth through about 2 months; he really disliked the Snugli (cried going in, being in, and taking out) and I didn't quite get the hang of slinging for his comfort (again, lots of tears and waking). He's going through another consta-nurse spurt right now and I'd love to pull the sling out again and try it for snack-&-nap, but I don't know if it's too late. Any advice or experience on late-start babywearing?

when I read your title, my answer was, OF COURSE. But I was thinking hip carry, maybe front carry.... do you know anyone who slings that could help you? I think nursing in the sling with an older, bigger baby really needs a demonstration.

Lauren hated her sling until she was around 6 months. I just kept trying every few weeks. When she finally liked it, most often she was in a front carry and then later moved on to the hip carry.

FWIW, I had a much easier time nursing in the sling once the babies got bigger. But, it is much easier to get the hang ofa sling with someone to watch and show you. Seven months is certainly not too late, as I did not sling DS a whole lot until around then. I just could not figure out how to get comfy until about 6 months when he could hold his body some as I adjusted the sling. It's totally worth the effort, and if you "practice" in a playful way at first, maybe the baby will help more.

If you have anyone near you that has a sling and could help you out, that would be GREAT! But if you have one and are unsure, make sure he is fed first and put him in and go for a walk or do something a little bit bouncy. That tends to distract/entertain them long enough to find out they are comfy like a bug in a rug :)

I bought my sling when Bailee was 5 mos old. We learned to nurse in it right away but indeed it took patience and practice. I say try it , ya got nothing to loose. :)
