You know I keep forgetting this forum is here!
Lily will only sleep well when swaddled. She will scream and fuss and the instant you swaddle her she falls asleep contentedly. The problem is, she is 3 months old and the blankets I had used earlier no longer "fit" right. There are times when if she can move her feet she just won't fall asleep.

Is there something I can use for a 3 month old or better yet, something I can make? (I'm broke) I have seen some little wraps but I think she is too big for them. She has to be wrapped tight like a mummy in order to be happy.

journey is the same way and is 6 months old. i got a yard of fabric, hemmed the edges & it is large enough. it is a rectangle & i fold it down a little because she likes her leggies free. & i just wrap her arms....not the full swaddle. she looks kind of like an eggroll with legs & head sticking out;>

The way that I have been wrapping her is laying her diagonally on a blanket so that her head is at one of the corners. I used to fold the bottom corner up over her legs and then wrap the right corner over her chest und under the left side and then did the same for the left side. Does that make sense? I can't do the egg roll because I can't seem to get it to fit tight around her legs since the upper portion is going around her arms and chubby tummy.

a yard of fabric would give you plenty of room to get it tight around her like you want...

Yup, a yard works well. My dd was like that as well and we were able to swaddle her until about 6 months.

yeah..a bigger blanket..and i find that something that has a little stretch in it will let you get it tighter.

For Miguel we used a waffle weave blanket. LOts of stretch

This time I plan to use cozy cocoons as long as Finn wants them

An old sheet you dont use any more cut down a little? That would be free:) Or two recieving blankets sewn together?

I'm going to dig out some fabric and see what I can come up with. I really think I need the stretch.

I used fleece--I swaddled Anders tightly until he was 7 months old! Fleece provided a good stretch but stayed tight. AND--I clipped him in. I know this sounds bizarre, but it's really like the blankets that velcro or snap, but I didn't have one. I DID have a pacifier clip (He had a pacifier until 6 months), and I just clipped the blanket shut, so it didn't come undone. If I forgot to clip him, he did NOT sleep well (and he still woke up every few hours, he's not a long sleeper. But unswaddled, he stirred every 40 minutes or so, and would likely flail himself awake). It was one with the short string, and I put it low enough so that his pacifier could get in his mouth, but it couldn't go around his neck to even worry about a choking hazard. If it doesn' make sense, I'm sure I have a picture somewhere.

The clip isn't odd at all! I saw a video clip recently of the a lady swaddling her son and then warpping him in ribbon.
I am going to stop at the Malden Mills outlet Friday and see what I can get.
