I know there are some older juicing threads in the archive, but I think it's time for a "fresh" one. Get it.
I just got a new juicer & have been loving it. My last one was a 1970's era Atlas juicer, centrifugal style. It was ok but such a pain to clean & left so much juice in the pulp. I loved & hated it.
This past weekend I got an Omega 8000 (their last twin gear) for $45. I love it! So much easier to clean and it does greens great. I live for fresh green juice. I've been driving SO nuts with "taste this" for a few days. Plus I'm finally making a good dent in all the greens that we get from our CSA.
Todays juices were:
apple, carrot, pear, kale
apple, carrot, necterine
kale, celery, lemonbalm, pear
Have you done any good combinations lately? I'm thinking of trying spinach, red pepper, cucumber and maybe some beets next.

How funny to come across this thread as I was thinking I'd like to start one for new ideas for juices.
My standard juice is apple/carrot/kale....mmmm, love it.
But want to try something new! So hopefully you'll all have ideas for me.
We also belong to a CSA and have been getting tons of greens...so yum, yum. I always juice kale, but haven't tried spinach. Does it taste similar?
Oh, and how did the nectarine juice for you? I tried to juice a soft mango once and it turned to sludge. LOL

well the Omega 8000 that I have isn't suposted to be good for soft fruit. OK on apples and under ripe pears but everything else is much. I generally just mush those and make more of a nectar. It was very tastey.
Looking forward to trying something with broccoli & potaotes (probibly sweep pots) tomorrow. Didn't juice the red pepper, they were just to tasty to juice.
Does the color of your apple carrot kale ever turn people off? My So looks at me like I'm nuts guzzling this greenish-brown juice all day long, but it tastes to great. ahh and the celery, kale, pear, lime combo was an amazine green color. I couldn't have dyed something a brighter shade!

Yes, my toddler won't drink it! It drives me nuts because I really want him to drink this yummy, healthy stuff! But both the color and the foam turn him off. :( I try to put it in darker cups too so he won't see it, but he won't drink it!
I'll have to try some other combos- did you try the brocolli and potato? I don't know how that would taste. But then again I never thought I'd like juiced kale but it's so yummy!

didn't get to juice the broccoli. DD ate it all with dressing instead & since it's her current fav. fresh vegi I wasn't going to stop her!
I can't get DD to drink juice either. But she doesn't drink anything except water so I'm not sure if it's the color, flavor or that she is just a water drinker. So will try it but never has any more than a sip.
Haven't juiced yet today. Not really sure what I'm going to put into it. I usually just go through the fridge and try to match things either by color or flavor (some sweet with some bitter)

My 17 month old loves his juice. It was one of his first words! LOL
I like a summer lemonade:
4 apples
1/2 whole lemon
watermelon is good peel and all
apple
carrot
pineapple
little ginger
Yum. I need to go and pick up some more fruits and veggies. And take Layne to get his Harry Potter from the library.
sounds yummy. I usually do carrot witha bit of apple. But I think I need to branch out!

I wish I had a CSA nearby; I pay so much for organic produce that I can hardly stand to juice it!
When we do juice we're prerry boring:
orange
orange-tangerine
carrot
carrot-celery
carrot-apple
apple
apple-lemon
Maybe we'll head over to the farmer's market tomorrow evening and buy some unsprayed oranges. Right now organic apples are $1.89 a pound, so we'll continue to eat those whole.

well, blueberry peach apple sounds great but tasted terrible! I added stevia and it was still Baaaad. I'm giving up on the peaches from our CSA for this year, they are the bane of my life right now.
My new fav. is celery, apple, pear, kale. I also like one I dubbed "pond scum" (if you'd seen it you'd understand) I just started dumping the remains from last weeks CSA box into the juicer to clear out space in the fridge for this weeks box. Apple, pear, nectarine, kale, carrot & a whole lime. Less lime next time would be better.
Made a yummy apple, carrot, beet tonight. DD loved the bright red color of the beets but won't try the juice. At least she's getting into the juicing itself, maybe one day I'll convince her to try the product.
I've got to try something with cucumbers next. I'm getting tired of eating them raw & got 7 more this week. Also has anyone juiced cabbage? Is it terrible? I've got 2 heads this week & SO will only promise to eat 1.

Todays juice:
apple carrot beet. Added more apple because it was a little "rooty" ~ red juice
green apple, celery, pear, spinach ~green juice
watermelon, with most of it's peel. SO good thanks for the rec. Lizz! DD even had a shot of this, *score* ~pink juice
didn't get enough apples to try the summer lemonade but it's on my list. I also want to try something with pink grapefruit (maybe with watermelon)
All this juice & I'm feeling a bit lighter internally. Plus it's all so good!

Yummy yummy yummy!
You know carrot juice is real cleansing, actually works to get rid of internal parasites and helps you to balance your gut flora.
I've been juicing and swimming and feel great!

I had a couple of friends over the afternoon and even got them to try juice! They loved the watermelon kind especially. One of them is even going to convince her folks to get the juicer they have been talking about so she can make some herself. I love it when the food speaks for itself.
I've gone on juiceing kicks before but with my old juicer it was such a PITA. I never managed to make enough to actually drink it frequently. Ugh, plus the clean up was demoralizing. I'm so glad I found this juicer!
