Didn't Meg have a board also that we used last time the boards were down?

Here's the IP addy: 209.152.176.119. If you put that into your web browser, you should get to amitymama. or 209.152.176.119/vb/index.php to get to the forums. HTH!

Is there a plan B? I don't mean to sound self righteous, but I cannot personally tolerate MD. The free use of language and tone of the overall forum makes me uneasy and uncomfortable and I just cannot, personally, do it. I realize the sewing forum may be different, but I dunno......
I would miss ya'll terribly. :wah:

The sewing forum is MUCH different.. I haven't seen free use of language in that particular forum.. it's basically THIS sewing board, but with a lot less posts/people. Heck most of the S&S's are just cross posted from here anyway. :)
Except for Summer's beautiful quilt.. glad I checked there this morning.. it's stunning!!

I don't think you're being self righteous. I won't go there, either. And I know other mamas who won't. :) Fortunately, a better alternative is in the works.

I am in a testy mood this morning so I probably shouldn't reply, but I hate the automatic judgements about an entire other board. Yes, MD is different than it is here, but it is not what many people percieve it as. It has changed a lot. And I love the sewing board there. Every sns gets replies and multiple ones. To me, it feels like this board did when I first came here.

Kristi, different people have different needs. You shouldn't take it personally.
I won't go to MD either. And yes, I have checked out the main boards and the sewing boards there recently, so this isn't a case of judging it by what it use to be. The atmosphere just doesn't suit me.
A few of us are working on another solution though. Stay tuned, we are still working out the bugs.
I like MD too but it's not my sewing home, this is. Thanks Allison for all your hard work. :)

I didn't mean to offend anyone, and maybe if there was a better way to say it, I am sorry, but I still *really* don't like MD. --- It doesn't mean I like any Momma less for going there or that I think that a Momma's judgement is impaired for wanting too. It is me personally, I just cannot do it.
You know, it is kind of like religion. Just because I won't step into a Catholic church, doesn't mean I hate my husband KWIM? It is just me, my belief system and what makes me feel comfortable.

This is me too. I pop in at MD every month or so and the whole atmosphere does not mess well with me. Those mamas that like it over there, well, thats them and not me, but it doesn't mean anything personally. Just like some people don't like dark chocolate or wine or fabric. Doesn't make them bad people, just different.
Allison's solution is worth waiting for.

i'll just ditto this too...
i have been to MD's sewing forum and love several of the members dearly, but it just isn't *home*...it's not b/c of the MD atmosphere tho, the sewing forum is drastically different than the rest of the board! fwiw, this sewing board isn't what it used to be either...

Sweetie, I don't think you could offend anyone, you're too nice a person :kittypink
This is my sewing home because I've been here forever and it's got the easiest posting format. I go to MD too but ummm, I don't know how to do a sns there, lol. I'm up for whatever, I just like seeing what everyone's making :couple:

Totally off topic, but Tara, where is this Roald Dahl museum of which you speak???
I think Em would love it. We read "The Witches" together, and she can't wait for the new "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" movie to come out.
I know, you're going to tell me it's in Europe somewhere...

Not Tara (obviously! *Lol*) but I think I remember Tara mentioning on another thread.. somewhere.. that it was in London? So yea, I think it's in Europe somewhere. *lol*

Is this new board going to be an open forum, or invite only, or what?

Oh, it will be open, just trying to get it up first and ready to go. It will also be community run with no moderators forum, etc.
We are working hard to get it up, I promise!

It sounds great ALlison. I love the idea of a sewing board :)
I also wanted to say too that I agree with others about "this" being my sewing home. I do go to MD and have been there since the beginning... but I just can't get into any other forum like this one. Maybe cause I have been on here with the same people for YEARS now. It's just... well, home! :)

I was really sad the other day when teh boards were down! I thought "oh no, its over and I won't be able to find any of my sewing mama's again." I really love comming here and seeing what you guys are up to. I know I don't post alot. I have problems getting my SnS up on the board. But I love looking and reading.
No one I know sews. So when ever I make something for my kids or myself my friends will say something like "oh thats cute where did you get it? Oh let me guesse you "made" (emphasis) it. Or if I try to explain how I refuse to pay $ for something I know I could make better. (i.e. Robeez! I still can't believe the price these go for!)
I won't even go in to the cloth diapering bit :)
Anyway! sorry for the ramble. I can't wait to see what is in store and hope I don't get left out.
Happy Sewing!

Just subscribing to the thread, although I haven't been doing anything other than biz sewing lately! Hopefully sooner than later I'll actually sew something worth a S&S that isn't a diaper! :)
