My sewing area was supposed to be in the garage. I was SURE there was an outlet out there. Nope. There is now officially no where that I can put my sewing desk. :( I know eventually I'll figure something out, but I was really hoping to get some baby sewing done before baby comes. :wah:

That's what I thought!!! :( Now, if I wasn't 9 months pg I'd rip the whole thing apart myself and figure out a way. UGH Can you say frustrated??

That's what I was going to suggest...a long extension cord. Like the orange heavy duty ones. Good Luck!

Ummm....really long extension cord?????Don't suppose your DH could wire it? Mine ran wire from the breaker box (we added a new circuit), up the wall between the studs, through the attic, down the studs in the garage and now we have light in the attic and extra light in the garage. For what it's worth, he is not an electrician by any means, it is not that hard to do.
It might be easier if an existing outlet backs up to the garage, then you can just piggy off the first outlet and create another outlet facing the garage. That would be even easier.
In the meantime, I agree, run an extension under the door. My computer is currently in the master bedroom closet and I have an extension cord that runs from a nearby outlet, under the closet door and into the closet for power.
Never fear, where there is a will, there is a way!! :D

Can you just set it up in the house temporarily? If not, I'd go for the extension cord if you can't get an outlet wired in time...
do you have a garage door opener? mine plugs into an outlet in the ceiling and also has an outlet on it (which we use to plug in a shop light).
We have a kids counting book about northern minnesota. It talks about hooking together 9 extension cords to plug in the block heater for the car. And shows the nine orange extension cords all linked together.
You can find a way! Although you honestly don't have much time left in july!

Is there an outlet in the house, ie a room next to the garage, which shares a wall to the garage? (like Stacey G suggested) If so, maybe drill a hole between home and garage?
I get a little scared when I hear about 9 extension cords hooked together like that! Hope it's just an illustration, and not an actual suggestion to string extension cords like that. :)

Isn't that a fire hazard. Electricity scares me.

I dunno. I was a little scared too. Most people (a) don't need a block heater or (b) have an electrician come and hard wire a little outlet near the driveway like a trailer park kinda thing if they don't have a garage. I mentioned it only because short term, in a highly monitored environment I think you could have it work.
I have one extension cord in my house, period. Don't worry I don't overload the circuits with my machines :LOL

Well I think I've found a place I can run an extension cord from. :) And we'll hook up a surge protector to that so I can plug in the sewing machine and the serger. I'll be a diaper making fool in no time again. LOL
