I can't find the old Vermont thread I started when we were first looking at moving up there.

Well...we are pretty sure we are moving up there! We had a whirlwind vacation up there for two weeks...and loved it.

We're looking in Washington county (near Montpelier - like Calais, Worcester, East Montpelier, Marshfield, Plainfield) because their autism services are top-notch, but are also considering Morrisville, Lyndonville, and a sweet little log cabin in Goshen that we fell in love with - but it's easy to fall in love with a picture! Our friends are going to look at it for us tomorrow. We shall see...it's a bit early and at the top of our price range, so I don't think it's going to happen.

We hope to be up there in August or September and I'd love to meet some Amity mamas in person. :)

I'm so happy for you!! The little cabin looks great. I hope everything works out well for you.

We moved form Vt to Boston last year, but we'll be back next year. Only 11 more months here :monkeydan . If there is anything I can help with, plmk. Another thought is to contact LLL in Montpeculiar ;) and ask them for info about the area. I have moved 3 times since becoming a mama and always call the local LLL to get a feel for the area. The leaders in Mont. are very friendly and I'm sure would try to help you out in any way they could. They also have a huge yard sale fundraiser every year that has lots of great clothes.

If I can help at all, just let me know.

Best wishes,
Kaight

Thanks Kaight! The little cabin in my sig pic is in Goshen (near Brandon, and right smack in the middle of Green Mtn Natl Forest, in fact it borders on forest land and is on 3.5 acres of its own). We put in a lowball offer & the owner countered. Supposedly a bunch of people are looking at it for a seasonal/second home. Hmph. I don't know if we'll get it. I'm waiting to hear back from the school Jacob would go to; I should hear tomorrow. If I hear really good answers to my many questions, we may agree to the counteroffer.

Great idea to call LLL!

I have a good college friend in Boston so I will have to remember to look you up when we go visit her. :) Glad you are moving back to Vermont next year!

Hey, we are moving to Vermont this fall too!

Have you found a house yet? The Randolph Herald has some great listings. And Vermont Country Properties has some beautiful homes available too!

We got married in Vermont a few years ago, fell in love with it, and finally now we are on our way :)

Good luck with your move!

Great, SierraLily! Where in Vermont are you moving, specifically?

We have not found a house yet, but my dh has signed a teaching contract, which is one-third of what we need to have happen - a big piece! Still have to finetune which school district we need to be in for my son, and find a house. I think we're just going to go up and camp in the forest till we figure it out. Since dh will have to be teaching, if that gets to be too much, we'll stay in an extended stay or find a month to month rental apt or house.
