I need some ideas. I have tried baskets but I don't like how the yarn snags on the wood. Currently I have a project in one of those free diaper bags that a friend didn't want, I have another rolled up on the kitchen counter and another rolled up in the closet.
I really want something that is portable, sits flat on the floor but is nice enough to be left out in the room. I need some ideas....Where do you keep your projects???
TIA!!
I like to use paper bag baskets.
You take 4 paper grocery bags all the same size, roll the sides of the first one all the way down, then roll down the sides of the second one not quite as far as the first one. Put it inside the first one. The rolled sides should be right above the sides of the first one. Then do the third one, but a little higher than the second, and put it inside the other two. Roll the fourth bag down all the way, cut out the bottom, and slip it around the outside to use as a handle. I like to sew the whole thing together with yarn or string. Youn can staple it if you're in a hurry, but it's not as pretty.

I have the basket shown on this page...the one with handles from Ghana. It doesn't snag, is really sturdy, and looks purse-ish imo (sometimes I just toss my wallet in with my knitting instead of moving knitting to my purse).

I have all my yarn and a few WIP in a large, wide basket. I keep my needles, hooks, etc in another smaller basket. Most of my WIP are in a large shoulder bag that I take with me when I go out. Of course, you might find a few WIP scattered around the house. LOL I see one now on the coffee table.
MIne are in (shhhh) gallon sized ziploc bags, in a wicker basket. I need tight containment to protect WIP from active boys. However, I know this method doesn't work with things on straight needles - I've been doing lots of stuff on circs lately.
I also have this small bag to carry things in when I'm going for a playdate: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=38124 I've seen other knitters use it all set up for almost any kind of knitting with DPN in some of the smaller pockets and such. I also have one for DS to use as a "useful bag" - i got several when they were on sale for $5.99 :)

I like baskets with linings. Of course like everyone said you can't just have one. :D

WOW, great ideas, but I have to say that I must have that knitting basket with the embroidered lining! I just love it. Too bad they have back orders to fill, I hope I can get one!
Thank you all so much!
