I started a playgroup for my daughter and some other friends of mine last september. It was the perfect size at first and we all just had kits under 2.

Since then we have added a lot of people to the group and it is probably too big. Savannah is 2 now and now we're starting to add more babies to the group. I think it was more about mom's having time to hang out together at first and now our kids are really into it.

So..my question...what do you do when your playgroup gets too big? People aren't really volunteering to host now and I think it's because they are worried about the size of the group.

Do you think it will just work itself out?

For kids that young, I think it would be helpful to be upfront with the moms. I have not been in that situation, so I might be totally wrong. I would just prefer to have a frank discussion about how many kids a mom might want at her house, and encourage people to host smaller groups, like just 2 yo, or just train buffs, or just new babies, or just vegetarians... You get the idea. Good luck! I am rediscovering how much I hated junior high as my kids get older and I am having to be their social engineer.

Be hones and upfornt Julie. Let them know that the playgroup may not work out if others can't host it.

OR

could you find a neutral place for everyone to meet. A church rec room, park, etc.?
