I've done lots of little things this summer. Well, and some not so little things. LOL

This is a headscarf I crocheted this spring. I wear it all the time. No pattern, I just played with some stitches. I need to make another! I really like it!!!

Super soft organic washies for some friends who are busy making babies! I love this yarn. The washie on the left is knitted and the one on the right is crocheted. Blue Sky Alpaca color grown organic cotton:

Rember Shannon's post about the knitted Tesselating Fish pattern?
http://www.amitymama.com/vb/showthread.php?t=250468
I just *had* to try it! It was pretty easy. I used bulky yarn, so it's a bit bigger than the pattern intented.

However, the completed fish is cupped. I wonder if it's supposed to do this? I guess it would add dimension to a quilt.

I also crocheted some grocery bags for us. We really need them! Our old ones are about 12 years old and have holes as big as my head! LOL Our food keeps falling out when we're carrying it to the car.

The first bag I made was too small for our needs.

I was too lazy to do all the math to make the bag bigger using the same needle, so I just grabbed my vampire stake size hook and went for it! LOL I used a size N  and made this one. It's hard to get a good picture of it, as it's rather floppy and stetchy:

Here they are side by side:

The pattern I used was the free one on the Sugar 'N Cream label.

Finally, I made a needle felted scissor holder. The body is felted wool and the decoration is needle felted wool roving. I love making these! I also made a leather sheath (not in picture) to protect the bottom of the case so the sharp scissor points don't poke a hole in it.

Not sure about my next projects. I've finished a lot "in progress" things, so I need some new inspiration. Time to stalk Knitty for the new summer patterns!!!!

Thanks everyone.

all is sooo beautiful - thank you for sharing!!

I love the scissor holder, it is so wonderful to have beautiful things. That is something I have been working on.. to make the few things we do have, simple yet beautiful... to bring beauty to every part of our home.

Great work!

Cool! I'll have to try the grocery bag pattern, I'm bored with my canvas bags.

Would blocking help the cupped fishy? I agree it gives it cool dimensional interest though.

The fishy is so cute! Actually cupped shape is great because you could sew 2 together, stuff it with wool, felt it a bit and it would make a great bathtub toy. Hmmm.... I think I am going to have to go try that. LOL
Everything looks great. :)

It was on the inside of the Sugar N Cream yarn label. You can see the pattern on their website here:

Have fun!!!

i'm doing the fishies too. i had an order for a bunch of acrylic dog sweaters for a local pet shop last fall and i'm knitting fish out of the leftovers. shhhhh. don't tell anybody that i've got acrylic yarn in my house, lol.

i'm guessing the bowing could be because of your gauge being a little too tight. but i love the idea of sewing to together and stuffing. :D

or what about a little bar sf soap stuffed inside?
