**I just bought a machine.. See other post for details. **

I really want to make an informed decision when I buy my next machine which I need to do ASAP!!!!

I want a free arm, computerized stitch keys, at least 50 or so stitches, walking foot *at least be an option to be one*, needle threader, thread cutter... I cant think of any more!

I want something that will be a workhorse, go through MANY layers of materials and many years of diapers being sewn on it but still do the most delicate of fabrics....

So tell me about what you have or even what you would buy if you could....

Tell me what NOT to buy or what brand/models to stay away from...

Good price for what you suggest?

Anything else?

I need to make this decision fast, My machine is going to pot! It must be the timing and could probably be fixed. I will most likely keep it if it is just the timing and can be easily/cheaply fixed for a backup.

Thanks again and I REALLY appreciate all your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just dont trust most dealers to know because they dont personally use EVERY machine day in and day out!

I just bought a kenmore 19233 and so far, I'm very happy with it. I think it meets all your qualifications, and it's handled multiple layers of denim (took in the waists of a couple pairs of denim shorts), stretchy baby lulu rib knit, and regular quilting weight cottons nicely. It has good control, is very quiet, and seems to sew beautifully. There's a walking foot available, but it doesn't come with one (but does come with 8 or so feet).

Yep, I second the Kemore. Great machine! I only sold it because I won an auction for a Babylock espire. They are really similar. You can usually get a pretty good price on the Kenmore if you watch the sales .

Can you buy a walking foot for these?
