I have some ideas for both of these fabrics in my head but can't figure out what would be the best color to dye them.

I think sky blue works for everything, lol! I dyed my bass a rusty orange...and now I forget what the actual dye was or if I mixed dyes...let me go get a pic...

I dyed my bass kind of a tan color (I think it was called New Hay). Here's a picture of a tool apron I made from it:
