I need a couple new carriers. A mei tei for our vacation- our current one is black w/flames and we both roast in it.lol A light weight pouch, the KKAFP is not going to work for summer. And something for pool use.

the fabric outlet had power dry, wickaway, cool max and several types of althetic mesh, think any of those would work? Know of a neat pattern fo ra pouch and something suitable for the pool? Gavin is 24 lbs. and 15 mos. old.

Okay, so you're in Minnesota and you're shopping at an outlet with powerdry, wickaway, and cool max to choose from? WHERE are you shopping, I need to know! RH Harris? It's obviously been too long since I've been there...
(I'm in Eau Claire, WI, but we go to the Cities all the time.)

For summer baby carriers, I'd go with linen for a mei tei, linen for a pouch, and a mesh fabric for a pool sling (either a pouch or ring sling). You could do any of those knit wickaways that you listed for the pouch, but I really think a linen would be cooler.

By favorite pouch pattern is here:

You can use that pattern for a mesh pouch for the pool too, but I really think a ring sling works a bit better. Some mesh fabrics really stretch out of shape when wet, and that can seriously be hazardous in the pool, even when you're paying close attention. My favorite unpadded ring sling pattern also happens to be the easiest to sew, IMO:
http://www.slingmemommy.com/ it's a gathered or fan shoulder, just the way you sew a casing for curtains to hang from the rod, you sew the rings on in a straight line. Easy as pie. I like www.slingrings.com for rings, especially the aluminum ones - really pretty, lightweight, strength tested, and specifically designed for slings.

Unfortunatly, I'm ring sling impaired.lol But thank you for the links!
