Hey sewing mama friends!!
Last night dh and I arrived home from the NIH. It was so emotional seeing the kids at the airport! Thank you for all the wonderful healing prayers and vibes. I'll put together a longer note with more details, but briefly put: Brain surgery went perfectly - tumor was removed and cysts (another one had developed) basically self destructed with the tumor excision, no others seen on the bain stem. Recovery went well, except for a low (40s) heart rate that landed me hooked up in the cardiac telemetry ward for the weekend. No explanation for the low pulse - stable, but low, no heart attack or anything. Monday night it returned to normal! It was like God just took a hold of my heart and blew life right back into my core. He is so good! And NO, I am not a marathon runner (sure, docs, I have that body - Don't I?). Wednesday evening I flew home!
No driving, lifting or stairs for 2 weeks (or only once down, once up a day), basically just recovering at home in pjs. Then ramping up over the next 4, with a 6 week recuperation time.
My neurosurgeon was thoughtful in the head shave! Basically, they lifted the top part of my hair away and shaved a line down the back under it (I have a short bob). Then the incision extends about an inch below the hair line. Staples (27) came out Wednesday.
I'll post more later. Just wanted to thank you and update you.
