IN the past 6months I've gotten 4 pairs of Keens and 4 pairs of Danskos...I don't know which I like more. Keens are definitely more for my long days out at the zoo, wild animal park, sea world ... I wore them when hiking in Hawaii on vacation. Danskos are more my "pretty shoes"...church, shopping, airport etc.
can't go wrong with either.

I have tow pair of these (http://landsend.com/cd/fp/prod/0,,1_2_1930_59671_120516_98963_5:view=-1,00.html?CM_MERCH=PAGE_59671&sid=2117198728286185820) Lands End Sport thongs I love love love them. THere is also a slide version if you don't wear thongs. THe foot bed is light and comfy and gives good support. THe price can't be beat either. I prefer these to my birks.

Sierratradingpost.com has women's size 7.5 keens on sale for $51.00. Of course I wear a 10.

Another Keen mama here! They also have new ones on eBay; I got a nice pair of Keen Seattles for about $30 off retail.
BTW, they do run a bit small, so you might try to find some IRL to try on before buying online.
Also, their mens' styles are made on a D size last and the women's on a B last; in other words, if you've got a typical woman's foot, the mens' Keens would probably be too wide for you.

If you want eco-friendly, you can try SPLAFF sandals. I got mine at:
http://www.veganstore.com
Anyhow, they are made out of hemp, bicycle innertubes AND recycled automobile tires. Very comfy and well made. I wear mine all the time even when bike riding.
They are so great!!! I bought them a year ago.

OK, you Keen people, a question.
Are Keens nice and snug across the top of the foot? I have medium to narrowish feet, and I have way too much room in so many of the comfortable sandals. Ever since I screwed up the top of my foot a year ago, I need shoes to fit snugly or I get pain in the place I sprained/broke/whatever the heck I did to it. Sandals are particularly challenging when it comes to support across that area. But those Keens look like they have potential! So please tell me how they fit before I head down to REI with 3 kids who think the tent display is a playground...

I think you will be able to get a good fit with the Keens. Everyone in my family has a pair of Newports...except baby, the smallest size is 10 and he's a 9. I also have Seatles, Jamestown Slides, and another loafer type pair...

mamaxt, because of the way that most of the Keen sandals are adjustable (via a bungee on the top), you should be able to get a snug fit, no problem :)

I have two pairs of Chaco sandals. When I bought my first pair 7 years ago, I was told that Chacos work best for people with narrowish feet and relatively high arches--I would tend to agree. Love how adjustable they are, though. Tevas don't work for me--the heel strap rides too low. Just saw in Organic Style magazine that Chaco is making "dressier" sandals now! I have had a pair of Earth shoes--these tend to be a little clunky and the negative heel thing can take some getting used to, so I would try some of these on IRL before buying. I am generally a clog gal, so I love Modellista (very comfy), Hanna Andersson (though my new HA sandal clogs are actually not comfortable), and Dansko, among others. I wear a 37 in closed-toe Danskos, but the 37 sandals I bought last year are too wide.

Tevas for me. I don't know if you are looking for a sportier sandal, but I have had the pair I have on now for at least 3 years and they are still super comfy and resiliant. I wear them almost every single day in the summer-for walks, to the park, everywhere. I would suggest the kind with the more rugged tread-they last a lot longer.
I personally think that Tevas go with everything-an added bonus :)

I love my Tevas too! I bought my pair in spring 2001, I've worn them everyday for 4 summers now and they're still super comfortable. The inside of the sole is worn out though, but I'm buying an identical pair as soon as I find one.

I love my Teva's too! I got my pair just before I had ds#2...almost 4 years ago..and they're still going strong. I've roughed them up, too. I wear them in the garden, to the beach, I've hiked in them. I've definately gotten my 30 bucks out of those sandals!

Do any of your kids wear the Keen Santa Cruz *clog*?! T. ONLY wears his Birk *clogs* (unless of course it's for school)! How do these compare? Sierra Trading post has them for under 20! How do they compare size wise to Birks? T. wears a 29 in Birks.
TIA!

Yes, my 5 year old ds wears them. They are great! You can even wash them on gentle cycle and air dry them (out of direct sunlight- I ruined my blue Keens by drying them outside -they faded)

I really like rainbow sandals. They are leather surfer style sandals.
Also check out www.sundancecatolog.com they have great sandals in their outlet!
