It stinks! LOL I just tried to sew through 3 thin layers of Hemp(jersey I think) to sew a diaper and I nearly lost an eye! The 2 needles broke off and came flying at my face but luckily I wear glasses! I jumped up and packed it in the box and back to Wallymart it goes tomorrow! Well now I know I need to spend more $$$ on a serger :rolleyes:

Ow! Flying needles definitely sounds funless! But the good news is you can only go up from there. :)

Kenmores are really good machines at or around the same price. I got mine used on Ebay for $119, it's a workhorse and does diapers like a dream, if that helps you any. :)

When it's good it's good and when it's not it's not.. singer EARNED their bad reputation for sure.

I agree with the kenmore. You can get a wonderful (trust me.. I've had mine almost three years and still love it) serger from sears and they are on sale right now for $300. Might be more than you want to spend, but it is WELL worth it. And, if you can swing another $80, you'll get an AWSOME warranty that even covers cleaning (not even babylock gave me a warranty like that.. I still have to spend $120 a year to get my baby lock cleaned even though I bough the $200 3 year warranty) as many times as you need it.
