I never find out what I'm having, so I get to make two outfits.
First is the boy's outfit, that I completed tonight. I made this completely without a pattern. I'm not completely satisfied with the top, but happy enough. The outfit is a tank top & diaper cover.

Next is the girl's outfit. I actually had a pattern to adapt for this one. For the under dress, at least. I can't get a decent picture of the underdress to share, but it's an open shell pattern (2dc, 1c, 2dc) & constructed similar to a onesie. The netting is something I came up with on my own, as is the flower-shaped trim. I also altered the neckties. So I darn near did the whole thing on my own, LOL. I just had the pattern to look at to make sure I was making it the correct size.

Both outfits are made using Bernat BabySoft pompadour (shiny thread) yarn, sport weight, & a G hook. It's kind of hard to tell in the second picture, but the overdress yarn is blue-and-pink mixed.
I still need to come up with shoes and hats. I'm thinking sandals for the girl dress & "sneakers" for the boy's outfit (yeah, I know, it's sexist, but I try really hard to make sex obvious with newborn outfits, since it's so hard to tell otherwise). I think I have a pattern for sailor hats (the dogbowls as DH calls them ;)) I can use for both outfits, just trim them with blue or pink. I'll share that as I come up with it. I'm actually planning to take a break and experiment with freeform/sculpture crochet for a while.
