View Full Version : Any reason why I couldn't use a piece of wool blanket as "batting" for a blanket?

Joanne's is kinda far away, lol, so I am trying to improvise. Would this work?
TIA!

I don't see why not really. I've used polar fleece or flannel in place of batting before.

I think you would just need to look at how you were going to wash the blanket, if it's 100% wool, since wool shrinks.

That's what I was thinking. Just make sure it's fully felted if it's going to be washed again down the road. You might also need to consider the color of the wool... I had a peice of hot pink wool flannel that I used to make a bed pad for Sophie out of and that thing STILL bleeds.

Okay, good point on the wool shrinking or bleeding.
I think I will cut a piece off of a polar fleece blanket, then.
Thank you!
