I have at least *7* friends who are having/have had baby boys that I need to make gifts for! Not one single friend has had a baby girl in the last year, and I have lots of baby girl outfits already done, lol. The irony of it! So...besies the NC outfit, what else could I make them? One wants a blanket, so I was thinking minkee on one side and then what? Boy stuff is hard...I'm afraid of girly-ing it up too much. TIA for your help!

My hairstylist is having a boy (or quite possibly already had him). I am going to make him a couple pairs of flannel jammy pants with really boyish prints: sharks, western, race cars, and sports. If you can get your hands on the newest Burda kids magazine they have a really cute camp shirt and long shorts that starts in a really small size.

Well as the mama of tow boys I can tell you I LOVED kimonos for my newborn boys. It made diaper changes a breeze!!!! I copied a kimono I got from Ecobaby and made a pattern, but you should be able to find a commercial pattern somewhere. These got a lot of use at our house because they fit from about one month till about 6 months (depending on how fast baby grows).

I would have loved a Minkee blanket for my boys, hehehe, yeah for my boys, LOL. Couldn't find a nice flannel print to put on the other side?

How about a tag blanket, a knotty doll (yep they work for boys too) stuffed balls, stuffed animals, stuffed cubes etc.

My favorite kind of onsie is the button up the front and crotch. Makes for easy diaper changes. Kwik Sew 2656 is a commercial pattern for it. It also has booties, pants and a hat. I've made the booties and the onsie. Did I mention I love these kinds of onsies, LOL. On the rare occasion that we would have a blow out, I hated pulling poopy over baby's head, so these made it easy to just slip them off.

How about a baby carrier like an asian baby carrier or a sling?

Basically you can make just about anything for a boy that you can a girl (except a dress of course), you just have to use the right kind of fabric. Oh and no lace or ruffles, LOL. Okay I'm being silly now. :smirk: :hahaha:

Oh how can I forget, bibs, cloth wipes (even if they don't cloth diaper, they are great for wiping up the other end too and they are great for baths, I made some with flannel on one side and terry on the other), burp cloths, hooded towels made from actual 100% cotton not that polyester crappy hooded towels that you buy in the store (not to mention these are super easy and fast to make, one towel and one large wash cloth and you've got a hooded towel, no cutting just sew it on right).
