Crystal and I were IMing this evening about shirring which got me in the mood to try it. Miss A and I had been to JAs earlier in the day to get some elastic thread.

ETA: Modeling picture. Sorry about my model on the run. I couldn't get a good stand still picture

I cut the fabric 24" long by the width of the fabric. The top is finished with a 1/4" double hem and I stitched 12 rows of shirring using the edge of my pressure foot as a guide. Then I serged up the back and hemmed it using a 1" double hem. The straps are elastisized and just pinned on until Miss A can try it on tomorrow morning. The bow is also just pinned on -- not sure if I like it. I might add a row of the same ribbon around the bottom.
This is the prettiest and easiest sewing project I have ever done -- I am in  with shirring! Instant gratification! :) I am seeing GOBS of these in Abigail's wardrobe for the next few years. I think I will make summer nightgowns for my nieces with the same technique.
Thanks for looking and I am off to bed as a satisfied sewing mama.
