OK, I am officially confessing my fear of knits. I have only ever sewn wovens. How do you cut the pieces to make sure they are on grain? I am so anal about that with wovens (which I tear to be on grain, or pull a thread), but it seems that the knits are a little bit harder to read in terns of the grain. Can I assume (on PRR) that the pattern is printed on grain? Or do y'all not even worry about it? I'm planning on cutting into the PRR rockets on Thursday. Right now I am tracing patterns :)

My advice... don't think so much. ;) Just make sure the stretch is going the correct way (like - across the chest in a shirt).

You would probably die if you looked too close at my woven stuff. ;)

It is common for things to be printed off grain so you will sometimes have to make a choice between following the grain or the print. Sometimes I compromise both a little, sometimes I choose one over the other- like w/ a stripe the visual print will win out. I don't worry about it much at all really though. Loosen up and just start cutting! :p :D

NO, I definitely wouldn't assume this! :lol: However, when it comes down to it, I'm with SHannon -- I'd try to get the best of both worlds. If the print is going to be totally off by matching the grain, then smidge a little both ways. If it's a stripe and the grain is off, then go with the stripe.

Now the perfectionist in me says, "This is bad - every piece of fabric should be perfect, or deeply discounted!" Great advice about the stripes :) THANKS!
