I am looking for some Goddess/Pagan stories to read with my dd, who will be 5 this summer. We have the book "The Lady of Ten Thousand Names: Goddess Stories from Many Cultures", which we love. We also love the stories in Circle Round, and read those frequently. I am specifically looking for stories that I can find on the web and print out to read aloud. Does anyone have any good links or even titles for great books? TIA!

I'm subscribing to this thread now, because I want to know this info as well. Last night, DD and I started reading "Mountains, Meadows and Moonbeams" by Mary Summer Rain.

Since what we practice is in the African pantheon my DH and I once did a search to find child appropriate stories. You knwo the ones that involve God, but not war, fighting, sex or other inappropriate things like stealing. Most religious storys tend to be about morals so... people doing wrong is inevitable.

We did some translation work and found 1... it went like this

Once apon a time Ochun was having a party. The Ibeji sang a song when suddenly a calabasa.

that was it...

what we learned, sometimes the written story doesnt say what we need it to. We now make up our own.

Not print-out-able, but here are a few we love:

Winter's Child by Mary K Whittington
Persephone and the Pomegranate by Kris Waldherr
Child of Faerie Child of Earth by Jane Yolen
The Alice and Greta books (there are three I think?) by Steven J. Simmons
All I See is a Part of Me by Chara M. Curtis
The Blue and Green Ark: An Alphabet for Planet Earth by Brian Patten

I also remember a book I *think* is called Sun Bread, which was lovely, but we've never owned it - we read it in a library once and I forgot to write the actual title/author down.

For younger kids, I highly recommend Barbara Berger's Grandfather Twilight and also When the Sun Rose, as well as Rose Fyle's A Fairy Went A-Marketing.

Lots more, but I am out of time! :D
